We liked our apartment which was really nicely laid out; spacious, comfortable and definitely big enough for us (we were 4 adults with 2 kids, for 6 adults it would be a bit of a squeeze). In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

"The overall facilities were good"

Harry

2x Three bedrooms apartments worked well for us, we ended up with only 12 of us, we were meant to have 16, having 2 extra people sleeping in the living room would have been too much of a squeeze so we were lucky that everyone got a bed, the overall facilities were good, they had all the utensils and cleaning stuff we needed. You could ski back to within 250m of the front door, and with a short button lift from the same spot you were already skiing in the morning. Make use of the balcony to keep your beers cold.

We all had a very good holiday. The apartment was really good for us, partly because we went for a six bed apartment with two separate bedrooms. It meant that my daughters could keep all of their stuff in their room and no one was sleeping in the converted bed settee. So no having to tiptoe around! The balcony with a view was really nice, looking out over the resort and slopes. Access onto the slopes was just by going on a lift, out the door and straight onto the snow. There’s a little nursery area right by the apartments with a rope tow. My daughter was trying snowboarding for the first time and my other daughter hadn’t skied for a long time, and it was good for them to be able to go straight onto the slope and practice, without having to go on a bus first. I didn’t get to see the swimming pool but my wife did and thought it was really nice, especially when you have sore legs at the end of the day. It was good that the pool was there to use rather than us having to go to a public swimming pool further out. The staff were really helpful. La Plagne is quite an English resort so everyone is quite happy to speak English. The French have a funny way of designing things, so to get to our block we had to walk around the block, through an underground car park, up some steps or a lift and up another flight. After a few days we got used to it and didn’t mind, but it could have been much easier with a lift up and some kind of horizontal walkway.

"Really nice, would definitely recommend"

We liked our apartment which was really nicely laid out; spacious, comfortable and definitely big enough for us (we were 4 adults with 2 kids, for 6 adults it would be a bit of a squeeze). The location is good in that it’s pretty much ski out but the Plagne Soleil area is quite dead... if we were going back to La Plagne again we would probably stay in Plagne Central as there’s more going on (our friends we stayed with had been in Plagne Central before and said it was much better). If you weren’t fussed about having things to do and just wanted to stay in, it would be fine. The kitchen is well equipped and there’s a little shop 4-5 minutes walk away as well as a couple of restaurants and bars nearby if you want to go out. I wish we’d found out before the last day that you could hire things like a raclette machine from the reception for free – it was really nice to do our own raclette in our apartment, and much cheaper than if we’d paid for one in a restaurant.
