Location: where is Chalet Ferme

Chalet La Ferme is one of five chalets located at the top of Alpe d'Huez, right next to the main lifts. The chalets are built around a charming cobbled courtyard, sitting at a very snow-sure 2000m altitude and surrounded on two sides by piste. The town centre is a pleasant 10 minutes' walk away, where you'll find a vibrant resort, with plenty of great bars, restaurants and shopping, plus an outdoor ice rink and swimming pool. If you don't fancy the walk into town, then take the aerial route as the nearby caged gondola lift can transport you to different parts of the resort.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Ferme description

It's hard not to love La Ferme, with five beautiful and spacious en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 10 guests, this elegant and stylish chalet is the perfect choice for a luxurious family getaway or ski trip amongst friends.

Entrance to the chalet is on the ground floor, where upon entering you'll find a ski room on your right, complete with heated boot drier for making sure you have nice warm toes each morning. The living space on the ground floor is stunning, with a modern and comfortable corner sofa that compliments the lovely timber clad walls and vaulted ceilings. The stone fireplace is the focal point of the room and whilst being open plan the room feels light and airy, the fireplace and soft furnishings give it a warmth and cosiness.

There is a spacious dining table with ample space for all 10 guests and which sits next to the full equipped kitchen, complete with an oven, four-ring induction hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine and coffee percolator. Outside the dining and living room is a balcony which commands uninterrupted views of the piste linking the Rond point des pistes with Les Bergers, and given Alpe d'Huez's nickname of “l'Ile au Soleil” it should be a great spot to enjoy a drink and soak up some sunshine at the end of the day.

The five bedrooms are luxurious and spacious, with a choice between two double bedrooms (160 x 200cm) and three twin bedrooms (90 x 200cm) all with an en-suite bathroom and balcony. There is a twin on the ground floor which has both an en-suite bathroom and WC and space for a cot. The second bedroom is on the first floor, again a twin with an en-suite shower room and WC. The two doubles are on the second floor, one has an en-suite shower and the other an en-suite bathroom. The final bedroom is also on the second floor, with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom.

As an added touch of luxury, on the ground floor is a spa area with sauna and indoor hot tub. The hot tub sits in front of patio windows with lovely views of the pistes outside, and access to a terrace area beyond.

There is free WIFI throughout the chalet, so whether you need to do some work whilst away, or just fancy streaming your favourite show, you'll be well looked after. For those driving to the resort, there is underground covered parking available.

Premium Contactless Catering Service

Your chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready and fridges stocked*, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won't see us. We'll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact, unless you need it. We will visit your chalet mid-week to give it a full clean and change of towels and bed-linen, but this shall be done during the day, whilst you're out on the slopes. You and your family will be safe and looked-after, as we work in the background, providing everything you need.

Our contactless catering service comes with the choice of two pricing options, a fixed menu with food and drink included in the price, and our à la carte option which allows you greater flexibility to eat and drink whatever you desire and the cost of the food is on supplement, at cost price, and depending on what produce you choose to order.

For those looking for a simple packaged chalet price, we are offering an all-inclusive price, which includes rental of the chalet and your food and drink for the week. Included will be breakfast, snacks to take with you skiing, afternoon tea and cakes/snacks, pre-dinner nibbles a three course dinner on 6 out of 7 nights, with a selection of after dinner cheeses, plus champagne for your first night, a kir for before dinner and unlimited wine and some beers. We have prepared a delicious menu for the week, with a mix of ready prepared meals from a local delicatessen and easy to cook dishes or sides. All that will be required from you is to pop a few things in the oven and throw together a few ingredients to make a simple salad, or steam a few vegetables as sides to your main meal.

Perhaps you want the freedom to choose your own menus, or perhaps you'd prefer to eat out more than one evening during the week, or you just love to cook yourself and enjoy the holidays where you have time to do this in a relaxed way. That's where our à la carte contactless catering service comes in. As an alternative to the service detailed above, we will also offer a lower rate, which does not include the food and drink for the week and we will give you the opportunity to order the food and drink of your choice, at the local hypermarket rates, and bill you for this afterwards. Four days before arrival, you will receive a comprehensive provisions list with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. That might be oven-ready meals, or the ingredients you'll need for Bolognaise, Soufflés or Cheese Fondues. Dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat or fish, beers, wines, champagne, whatever, all bought for you and stocked in advance.

Our aim is to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst staying as affordable as possible. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, we are able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed at the time of booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.

**Please note that for the à la carte option, all food, drink, ski hire and lift passes come at additional costs and are not included in the chalet price. Provisions will be billed at cost price and can be ordered from the list that will be sent out to you, and ski hire and lift passes can be booked in advance with our preferential rates. For our fixed menu option, the price does not include ski hire and lift passes, but it does include breakfast and afternoon tea for 7 days, plus a 3-course dinner with beer and wine for 6 days.

We update Chalet Ferme's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d'Huez is very accessible from Grenoble or Chambery airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain. It is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as "...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936, and with the culmination of around 20 Million Euros of improvements due to come to fruition for 2021, there is a huge ski area to be explored. With a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers. There are plenty of wide-open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the bl...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe. It combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithy’s has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex food to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France, O’Sharkey’s is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’Huez has all of the usual culinary delights you’d expect in the mountains. To sample some traditional French food, ...

"Excellent"

The chalet staff were excellent. The location of the chalet was excellent as was the quality of the chalet, all bedrooms being of equal quality and size which makes a big difference when traveling with a group of friends, (we have stayed in chalets before when the pictures show 2 of the rooms which look great but the other rooms are tiny and poor quality!) If the flights were available from the North that would be extremely useful, arriving back into the UK at 4.30pm and a 4+ hour drive home with children was never going to be easy!

A friend and I booked this last minute and we were delighted. I suspect we have now been spoilt for any future trips! The chalet was lovely, spotlessly clean, l'occitane toiletries, wonderful 3 course dinners plus canopes on first and last evening. The staff were great especially our chalet host Puiy. They advised on resort, runs, organised lessons, lift passes etc. The jacuzzi and sauna kept us skiing/boarding with all our sore bits loosened up. We were lucky they had snow the day before we arrived and we then had blue skies and sunshine throughout our week. All round a wonderful trip, would definitely recommend VIP and alpe d'huez. Something for everyone....

The grand children didn't even mind going to ski school! Fabulous !!
