Overview: hotel description: Le Mirabeau Hotel & Spa description

Le Mirabeau Hotel & Spa is a boutique hotel located in the centre of Zermatt - so you'll only be a short walk away from the resort facilities including the Zermatt railway, bus stop and ski lifts - the Gornegrat and Sunnega lift, making it incredibly easy to get onto the slopes each day. The hotel places emphasis on L’art de vivre which is translated from French as the art of living. Here you can expect stylish traditions, fine dining and good wine. To top it off you'll have access to the the indoor pool and Alpine Hideaway Spa during your stay.

Welcoming hotel team

The hotel is run by the third generation of the Reichenbach family, whose grandfather lovingly built the property in 1975. Since then, the hotel has expanded and has undergone renovations in recent years to create the elegant and chic hotel it is today. The bedrooms are bright, spacious and furnished to a high standard, incorporating traditional Alpine style with modern comforts. Many of the rooms also have balconies with incredible views over Zermatt and the iconic Matterhorn.

Soothing spa and swimming pool

After a day of exploring Zermatt there is nowhere better to be than relaxing in the hotels wellness area, the Alpine Hideaway Spa. It's equipped with all the facilities needed to fully relax and revitalise, including a mountain herb-scented sauna or Valaisan wood sauna, a mountain crystal steam room, glacier showers, a jacuzzi and a indoor swimming pool. If you just want to chill out there's also a relaxation room with waterbeds. Treat yourself to a massage or treatment (payable locally) with the in-house therapists while you are away to fully rejuvenate - it's the perfect way to soothe any aches or pains you may have.

Mountain meals

After a day of winter activities, enjoy a home made cake and a coffee or hot chocolate in the bar. Each day you can enjoy a delicious evening meal which is influenced by the fresh regional produce, while marvelling at the magnificent views of the Matterhorn. After dinner, relax in front of the fireplace with a cocktail or glass of wine. As well as the fine dining offered, there is also the in-house diner, Marie’s Deli, which was named after the owners great aunt who owned a deli in Zermatt in the 60s. The menu varies between local specialties and comfort food, and is available to dine in or take away, pay locally.

Zermatt belongs to Switzerland's Valais canton, which rubs shoulders with the Italian Alps. You'll find it surrounded by nearly a third of Europe's 4000m peaks and, most notably, right at the foot of the Matterhorn. Even if you haven't heard of this mountain, chances are you'd recognise it - national landmark of Switzerland, the inspiration for the Toblerone and a peak photographed more than any other. Besides the picturesque scenery, these mighty mountains come with a cool climate, ever-white glaciers and ...
There are 200km of runs in the local area alone and a massive 360km overall if you count the Matterhorn's Italian side. With Cervina, Zermatt forms the 'Matterhorn Ski Paradise' where SNO lovers of all abilities are blessed with high altitude terrain - and lots of it! Everyone's a winner in a ski area this big and brilliant. Still, if we had to pick where it shines, we'd say it's incredibly fantastic for intermediate and advanced level skiers and snowboarders. If you're a keen beginner, you'll love Zermatt,...
Zermatt has voted the world's best après ski resort by the World Snow Awards in the past, making it a wise choice if you want a whale of a time post-skiing. Sure – it doesn't come cheap, but you won't find better if you want quality. Across sixty bars and numerous nightclubs, you can relax, unwind and party through the night. Harry's Bar is the place to dance to cheesy pop and Papperla offers a pubby atmosphere, but you can't come to Zermatt without being tempted into the Hennu Stall (at the end of the Furi-Ze...

"The hotel was lovely and the facilities were great"

Mark
4/ out of 5
The hotel was great. It was all pretty good. I’d say the resort is all very expensive, the lift tickets were extortionate. It was all great though and when I win the lottery, I’d go back again! I’d give the holiday a 4/5. What would make it a 5/5 is better hotel food and being better value for money. The food was great, but we’d personally not go half board again. My kids just didn’t cope with the half board meals. They just didn’t serve stuff that the kids wanted. Don’t get me wrong, the food was nice, but it wasn’t “wow” and wasn’t kid-friendly. The skiing itself was good. The runs are under-graded, but a lot of places do that now. Getting around was fine, most of us were snowboarders so we were not clunking around in boots. The main train station is really close, so if you want to just go up via the train station, it’s easy. If you want to get the funicular up, it’s still pretty easy, probably like a 10-15min walk. I’d say getting to the slopes from the hotel is fine and certainly wasn’t an issue for us.
