Lapland Late Deals
We can’t imagine anything more exciting than a spontaneous, once-in-a-lifetime trip to ski, meet Santa and see the Northern Lights - in what’s arguably the most winter wonderland-y destination of them all…
There’s a whole host of activities to look forward to in Lapland, from husky sledding and reindeer safaris to ice fishing, ice swimming, saunas and skiing. Of course you can also arrange a meeting with Santa Claus – perfect if you’ve got kids with you (or are still a child at heart!). We can usually pre-book Santa meetings and activities for you, so you can arrive in resort with a decent itinerary rather than wasting time organising things when you’re out there.
If you’re wondering what the snow will be like, this region has a prime location straddling the Arctic Circle, making it one of the most snow-sure places you can ski, particularly during early and late season.
Daylight hours are a little different over here: there’s a twilight-like atmosphere during early-mid season, with January only having around 3 hours of full daylight per day - but we think this just adds to the unique appeal. The Lappish resorts are well equipped to cope with the lack of natural light, with a good proportion of runs being floodlit. Our favourite resort for skiing after dark has to be Ruka, where every single downhill run is illuminated! The long nights also mean you’re more likely than ever to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights – which is a real treat. As you reach the end of the season, the days get much longer, letting you enjoy the outdoors before relaxing on a sun-soaked restaurant terrace and taking in incredible arctic views.
