The apartments were very nice and well presented. We were happy with them. They had good utensils and cooking equipment. Honestly the apartments were pretty naff. The main reason is because we had a big group of students staying in the apartments surrounding us and they were really noisy. The walls are paper thin! The apartments are ok, they’re fairly basic but then ski apartments usually are. Inside there’s a microwave etc for cooking, there’s a Spar and little grocery shops in the area which were easy to get to, we just took a detour on the way back from the slopes. It’s a bit of a hole – the room was alright but the building is disgusting. It was what it was, it’s a budget holiday and we knew we weren’t getting five star accommodation. It wasn’t overly plush but then it wasn’t shocking either. Location: where is La Muzelle

Superbly placed just a hundred and fifty yards from the Diable bubble ski lift and barely two hundred yards from the beginner slopes, the La Muzelle apartments are in the ‘Place de Venosc’ at one end of the main street.

They’re well placed among a terrific spread of amenities and the town’s evening highlights, which means that you and your party are in a great spot for enjoying all that Les 2 Alpes and its mountain have to offer.

Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925 when the first ski tow was built. The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town when in reality the name stems from the two villages on either side of the settlement: Mont De Lans and Venosc. There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about Les Deux Alpes is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the ski escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. The run home at the end of the day used to have a fearsome reputation for being overcrowded...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in Les Deux Alpes. One of the best bars in resort is Pano bar, this slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m comes alive at happy hour between 3 pm and 5 pm every day with discounted drinks and a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as live entertainment on several night...

"Great for young people on a budget"

The apartments were very nice and well presented. We were happy with them. They had good utensils and cooking equipment. We took three apartments in the end – they were fairly noisy but my sister’s apartment was right by a group of uni students so she had more noise. I wouldn’t recommend them to families really, they are better for young groups because they are at the cheaper end of the spectrum. It was mainly young people there. The apartments are well located, there are lots of shops and places to go out to eat and drink around them. They are right in the middle of town. There is a Spar supermarket underneath which was excellent, and then there is another larger supermarket a short walk away in town with more variety. The check in took quite a long time, I think because several coach loads of people had just arrived, so we went and had a beer and a crêpe nearby. We went out quite a lot for crêpes; the crêperie near the big polar bear statue is good and not too expensive. There’s also nice bar nearby called ‘Yeti bar’ and the bowling alley next door was good, a bit retro and the beers were probably the cheapest in town.

We were kept up till 5 in the morning. We used to come home and find people passed out in the hallway. Don’t get me wrong, if you are young and on a budget it’s great! Just not for us, I’m not looking for a party atmosphere. My brother chose these apartments… they aren’t really right for me. Also I’m aware that we had a bad room on a bad week, the place might not be like this all the time, I don’t know. It’s great for 18 year olds basically. There are lots of bars and places to go out nearby. The apartments are definitely good value, to do a ski holiday for under £500 is amazing, but to be honest I’d rather pay a bit more and have somewhere a bit nicer, I’m at that stage in my life now.

It’s mainly groups of young people there and it works well for them, I wouldn’t really recommend it to families. Maybe it would be good for young couples that want to go out as well. There are lots of bars and restaurants around, we went out pretty much every night and there was one bar/club right opposite that we went to a lot.

The apartments are ok, they’re fairly basic but then ski apartments usually are. Inside there’s a microwave etc for cooking, there’s a Spar and little grocery shops in the area which were easy to get to, we just took a detour on the way back from the slopes. There were three of us in one apartment, my kids took the bunk and I had the pull out bed. The apartments have a central location but ours was facing into the courtyard which was very noisy as there are two bars just across the way. If I had the choice I would certainly pick an apartment facing the other way. It always depends who you end up next to; we were staying near some English lads who were horrendous, really noisy and using language I didn’t want my children to hear. In terms of getting out every day, they were a short walk to where we had our ski stuff, probably about five minutes. I’d definitely go back to Les Deux Alpes for the skiing but I wouldn’t stay in these apartments again.

They’re as basic as you get and well out of date but you get what you pay for, we didn’t expect much as the holiday was so cheap. We had five people in one apartment, one on the sofa and then the rest in the double bed and bunk beds. The rooms were tiny but they did the trick! We were meant to self cater but ate out most nights as the hob was pretty crap and didn’t really heat up, so we only ended up using the local supermarkets to buy drinks. If you want a good restaurant, Smokey Joes advertises itself as Tex Mex and does good steaks (although it’s not that cheap).

It’s a bit of a hole – the room was alright but the building is disgusting. While we were there, the ceiling in the foyer caved in and there were loads of wires hanging out, I think someone must have knocked it when they were carrying skis or something... There were 10 of us who had both of the apartments on the top floor as they’re the only ones that can take 5 people, so we had the whole top floor to ourselves. We cleaned the apartment up at the end of the week but they still charged us £100 even though we left it spotless, some friends have stayed there before and had the same thing so I think they just charge you regardless.

It was what it was, it’s a budget holiday and we knew we weren’t getting five star accommodation. It wasn’t overly plush but then it wasn’t shocking either. The location was 200m walk to the nearest lift which is much better than other places I’ve stayed. There were some issues when we were staying here, a water pipe burst and four of the apartments got drenched, with everything on the floor getting soaked – I was quite lucky as it didn’t affect my apartment but my friends in the other apartment were a bit miffed. It took a couple of days to get sorted (we thought it could have been sorted out faster if they had been more helpful) and I seem to remember my friends saying the staff were a bit rude. We had two rooms of four - each has one bunk bed in a hallway and in the living room one of the sofas pulled out to be a bed. Our room was fine was there were only three of us and I lucked out and got the double bed to myself so I was happy! There is a kitchen but I don’t like to cook for myself when I’m on holiday. If there are four of you in a four man room and you’re planning on cooking and living there, it would probably be a bit cramped. We ate out and the food was incredible, we thought the place called “Crepes a go go” would be a bit naff but it was actually amazing, I had a hot plate there and it was really good. As you go down the stairs from the apartments, right opposite the stairs that you take up to get to the apartment block is a pub that was like our local pub. The owners were really cool and friendly and they opened in the morning so you could go there for a cheeky beer and a fry up breakfast.
