This package holiday to La Falaise Apartments in Avoriaz, France departs Saturday 5th April 2025, for a 7 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

Established in the 1960s as the brainchild of Olympic champion skier Jean Vuarnet, Avoriaz is a purpose build resort with tonnes of character. The wood-clad buildings have a striking appearance that set it apart from other destinations. Even more impressive is the 360° panorama of the Alps. Avoriaz is brilliantly located right in the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Completely ski-in ski-out, a holiday in Avoriaz means you don't have to lug your equipment around and you can maximise time on the slopes...
Avoriaz is one of our favourite resorts to bring the family - thanks to a huge and central children's village, complete with a specialised snowboarding area, children can learn to ski and ride in a fun and safe environment. Avoriaz is one of the only resorts that has a Beginner Pass, letting you find your feet on easy terrain via 14 lifts without the expense of a full lift pass. Beginners-only piste Première Glisse gives you the chance to improve at your own pace, while Proclou and Q'monts are easy blues for cr...
Avoriaz has worked hard on it's apres game in the last few years, with the addition of a well-known apres go to 'La Folie Douce' for winter 2018. It has an array of restaurants, bars and off-slope activities that contribute to a lively après ski scene. Le Tavallion is an English themed pub for a home-from-home atmosphere, Shooters is good for party-lovers while Le Yak tends to be the venue of choice for late-night clubbing. Featured in the Michelin Gourmet plate guide, La Reserve is a place to fine-dine in st...

"Basic but perfectly adequate, an excellent week in Avoriaz"

E. H., Worcestershire
3/ out of 5
We had an excellent week, we’ve stayed in Avoriaz before so had an idea of what to expect. The apartments are quite basic but they were more than adequate for what we needed. I was quite concerned that ours would be quite cramped with four of us and I don’t know if we ended up with a slightly bigger apartment, but ours had a separate room with bunk beds so it all worked quite well. The kitchen was absolutely fine, the bathroom didn’t have a shower curtain so the floor got rather wet but this wasn’t a major problem for us. As with all accommodation in Avoriaz we could ski to the door. This was a last minute booking and we weren’t sure how self-catering would work for us but it was actually really good – we didn’t have to wake up at a certain time in the morning like you do in chalets/hotels and could eat out in the local restaurants in the evenings (tip: you always have to book in advance!).

"Good loc for ski school and doorstep skiing, not good for apres ski"

Paul Mcdonald, Oxfordshire

They were fine, only we didn’t realise that they were so far from the centre of the resort. They’re at the top part of Avoriaz so you can ski in and ski out which was really good, anyone could do it as you go straight onto an easy blue from round the back of the apartments. For the après ski part of it you’d have to lug your skis around, which is the only downside... We ended up skiing in and walking down, you can also get the horse and cart (Avoriaz is traffic free so that’s how they do transport there). Access to the ski school from the apartments is really good if you’re having lessons and there are plenty of shops nearby with a supermarket 2 minutes walk away and a fresh bakery even closer. At the end of the holiday, you’re at the right end of town so you can get out of Avoriaz really easily.
