With first-class facilities and luxurious décor, the Kesselspitze is the cream of the crop. It's got everything you need for a top-notch trip, and the Luerzer family who run it have made it the kind of place that'll have you dreaming of booking your next stay before you even leave. It's right on the slopes too, so you can step out the door, click in to your skis and head off.
The Kesselspitze gets alpine elegance down to a T, with exposed stone walls and grooved timber panelling for a natural, rustic finish. Add in faux fur throws, spotlights and rich navy and grey tones, and you've got a swish final look that's cosy yet stylish.
One of our fave spots is the spa, which has big floor-to-ceiling windows to bring the outside in, so you can sit back and relax as you watch the flakes fall. There's also a lounge terrace with knockout views of the snowy peaks, so stop here around lunch time for a bite or an afternoon tipple.
The food’s top-notch too, starting with a breakfast spread and show-cooked options like omelettes and pancakes whipped up by the chefs. Lunch is also a buffet affair, with soups, salads and a dish of the day to tempt. When you’re back from the slopes and feeling peckish, there are après-ski snacks to keep you going until it’s time to tuck into the 6-course evening meal. And afterwards, why not head to the lobby bar? Pull up a chair next to the big, open fireplace and chat about tomorrow's day on the mountain over your fave drink.

•Excellent lift system •Clever natural ski circuit •Attractive purpose built resort
Obertauern stands apart from other Austrian resorts in more ways than one; it’s the nation’s only purpose-built resort offering ski in/ski out convenience whilst impressively maintaining Austrian charm. It has unusually high altitudes for Austria, with pistes peaking at 2313m, and the ski area is built in a one-of-a-kind circuit where you always return to your starting point, whichever direction you ski.
