Originally built for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, this modern resort is situated on the valley floor near to Sestriere and the huge Milky Way ski domain. Due to Pragelato being in a high altitude, it is an excellent snow record in winter and has at least 50km of local pistes. Pragelato is part of the Via Lattea ski area with access to 400km of downhill skiing, with 265 marked pistes, served by 6 lift systems, both chair and ski lifts. The ski resort itself is at 1,535m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,580m, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.
