Inghams chalets

Being one of the original ski holiday companies, Inghams holidays are naturally well known for their traditional ski chalet holidays. Chalets are a sociable choice with shared chillout areas, communal meals and hosts sorting the food and cleaning. Usually these will be offered on the classic catered chalet basis, so breakfasts, afternoon teas and evening meals with wine are included. Traditionally there’s one evening in the week where you make your own dining arrangements, giving your hosts a well-deserved night off! You can usually expect special festive touches on occasions like Christmas and New Year too, along the lines of bubbly, Christmas crackers or even fireworks.

You’ll see from browsing the options on this page that a lower-budget, 3-star rated chalet would normally still include good features like a sauna, free WiFi, and close proximity to the ski lifts. A higher-end, 5-star rated chalet might offer a few extra perks on top of that - maybe a coffee machine in your room or some fluffy white bathrobes...

As well as a mixture of catered chalet and hotel facilities, many of the chalet hotels run by this supplier feature their own bar. Meals typically consist of a continental breakfast every morning, with hot options on some days too. On 6 days, you’ll also be served afternoon tea, drinks and canapés before dinner, then a three-course set menu dinner with a choice of alcoholic drinks. These include vegetarian choices, and it’s normally possible to cater for other dietary requirements – let us know your needs and we’ll make sure you can be catered for. If you’re staying over big days like Christmas and New Year’s Eve, these properties have a history of cracking celebration meals.

Properties come in a range of ratings – chalet hotels at the higher end of the scale hotel may include luxury spa facilities and rooms with a touch more space and extra features like a coffee machine or a spa bath.

There are hundreds of hotels of all shapes, sizes and ratings among the Inghams collection. Usually, these come on a half-board basis (including all of your breakfasts and dinners for the utmost convinience). The next most popular board basis is bed & breakfast (fuelling you for the day ahead, then letting you choose restaurants for lunches and dinners), followed by full board (all meals, all week) and all inclusive (that plus drinks!). Often in North America, hotels are booked on a room only basis which gives you a freedom to choose where you dine throughout the week.

Some of the apartment complexes include on-site bars and restaurants, meaning an extremely convenient meal out. They’re also still in dead central locations close to things ski lifts, restaurants and shops.

Inghams Ski Holidays brand & history

Inghams Ski Holidays was originally created by Walter Ingham back in 1934.

Mr Ingham first advertised a winter mountain ‘adventure’ in a national newspaper and, after spectacular success and unparalleled repeat business from those wanting to return again to ski, Inghams quickly burst into a sizeable ski holiday company - the rest is history.

Currently, Inghams operates from aptly named ‘Mountain House’ in Godalming, Surrey.

Under the umbrella of Hotelplan UK, Inghams has two ‘sister’ ski companies - Esprit Ski which specialises in family skiing and chalet specialist, Ski Total.
