Hotel Waldhof Summary

The Waldhof hits the mark when it comes to facilities. First up is a relaxing wellness area, where you can swim, soak in a hot tub or stretch out in a sauna. Next, you've got two separate play areas for the kids. For the tots, there's one with a ball pit and climbing tower, while older ones and teens have a room with computer consoles. And sticking with the games theme, there's also another room with classics like table football and pool.

As for looks, the whole place has an alpine-meets-modern feel, with lots of light tones and plenty of natural wood. There's a mix of rooms for up to five people, which are split between the main building and a separate annexe – and as an extra perk, each one comes with a balcony too.

Moving on to food, there's a hot and cold buffet spread to set you up for the slopes. Then when you're done for the day, you can tuck into a tasty afternoon snack, before rounding things off with a 4-course evening meal that's filled with local flavours.

Skiing the Schmitten mountain above the town puts you on some of the most scenic pistes in the world, with stonking sights of the lake and Salzburg peaks. Three-quarters of the slopes suit beginners and intermediates, and there’s more easy cruising on Kaprun’s Maiskogel mountain (a bus ride away). Schmitten doesn’t forget experts, with endurance testers and adrenaline spikers thrown in - the long, black Trassabfahrt is said to be one of the most challenging in the country. Besides panoramas and peaks, the ...
With plenty of opportunity for a quick bite or drink on the mountain, the après ski gets going long before the last skiers leave the slopes. The Pinzgauer Hut is a hidden gem on the mountain, serving delicious local fare and offers a complimentary snowmobile service to return you to town. At the top of the Schmittenhohe, you can dance the afternoon away at the Schnaps-Hans bar, before making your way down to the town to carry on the party. The Cabrio is often the next port of call, where you can watch the fo...
