It was absolutely fantastic! A wonderful hotel! There’s nothing I can even remotely fault. I stayed in one of the unrefurbished rooms which was massive and really nice, so I imagine the refurbished ones are even better! Established in 1937, posh party town Verbier covers a sunny plateau slap bang in the middle of Switzerland’s 4 valleys – which just happens to be one of Europe’s biggest and best ski areas. The easy-on-the-eye architecture’s a pretty mix of wood and slate, but it’s what you’ll find within some of these walls that’ll blow your socks off… Blending in with dozens of classic chalets and ski hotels, this place has some of the most luxurious lodgings on the planet. Some hotels come with designer suites an...
Besides being famous for its off-piste routes, Verbier’s well groomed slopes are well known as some of the most challenging in the Alps. Although it mainly attracts intermediate, advanced and expert level skiers seeking adventurous off-piste and steeps experience, the 37 local pistes covering 100km provide for all abilities. The resort has three areas specifically for beginners, including the gentle slopes at Les Moulins, which has a children’s area and Les Esserts, with its 120m magic carpet. Those with a b...
Many say Verbier’s après is the main reason to visit – it’s certainly some of the best in the world and if you want to increase the odds of bumping into Prince Harry or Leonardo di Caprio on the dance floor, there’s no better place to party. From a good old pint in a lively pub (we love Nelson’s and Pub Mont Fort) to swanky cocktails with the socialites at Cordee de Alps, the nightlife is wonderfully varied. An absolute legend is the Farinet - with a huge sliding roof, a commanding position over the mai...

"Absolutely wonderful"

They have an un-refurbished part and a refurbished part, we were in the un-refurbished bit, but that meant we got a 3 bed suite which was fantastic, a bit 70’s but so much space. "Nice to be a bit out of town, good transfer service to lifts"

The hotel itself is very good. You have new renovated rooms as well as older ones that are typically owned by private landlords, ours was one of those. It was kind of sweet, it looked like a chalet inside as everything was made of wood. We had a nice balcony however it doesn’t have the luxury quality that the renovated rooms had, for example our carpet was at least 30 years old and not very presentable. The bathroom was OK and the small kitchenette was fine (we didn’t actually use it much). The television was small but OK, modern with good channels. My bed was a bit small but I just asked for a bigger mattress and they sorted it out straight away. A really good thing about Hotel Vanessa is that it’s far away from the bars and the clubs which means it’s quiet at night. Verbier is quite a trendy resort with some of the best nightlife in Europe and the centre is very busy in the evenings. The transfer service from the hotel to the lifts was very efficient. They have 2-3 vans that they use to take the guests to the runways and when you want to go back at the end of the day, you just call reception, tell them what spot you are at and they’ll come in 10-15 minutes. If you’re in Hotel Vanessa, the best valley to ski is the one on the right hand side. Most of the hotel’s employees were very efficient and friendly and the owner was really nice too. The restaurant was very, very good. You always have a dish of the day or you can order a la carte. In our case, we had half board so breakfast was also included, which was very nice.

"Very luxurious!"

I stayed in one of the unrefurbished rooms which was massive and really nice, so I imagine the refurbished ones are even better! There’s a wellness centre with a sauna and a jacuzzi and the restaurant and bar were both good. The food was amazing, very fancy, some traditional stuff, steak and things like that and also dishes like foie gras. Breakfasts had loads of options, from toast to fry ups and all the continental breakfast stuff. There was a dry room in the basement which had plenty of room for equipment. The Vanessa has a really central location, right in the middle of town and only a five minute walk to the lifts. They did offer a minibus service to take you to the lifts but I was happy to walk.
