Overview: hotel description: Hotel Tignes 2100, Tignes Le Lac description

The Tignes 2100 draws people back year after year, and it’s easy to see why. This modern hotel’s in the centre of the resort, just a few minutes’ walk from the lifts, and is surrounded by amazing views – picture yourself watching the snow fall over the mountains from your room or sipping a cocktail overlooking the frozen lake in the bar.

It’s got a chic-meets-cosy look, with lots of soft lighting, squishy sofas and earthy colours. And there are plenty of spaces to relax – play board games by the fire in the lounge, get stuck into a good book in the library or wander down to the wellness area to drift between the hot tub, sauna and Turkish bath.

And when mealtimes roll around, you’re in for a treat too. The kitchen specialises in a mix of French, Italian and Swedish dishes, and the stone-baked pizzas are some of the best in town. And there's a nightclub just downstairs, so if you fancy a boogie you're in the right spot.

Espace Killy ski area Fantastic après ski High altitude skiing

Tignes is somewhere you can ski longer, higher and further than most other resorts in the Alps. Owing its snow-reliability to the Grande Motte glacier, the local ski area is joined with Val d’Isere’s to form the mammoth Espace Killy - intermediates will have a whale of a time here. Choose between 5 different villages, whether your priority is convenience, cosiness or cheap accommodation. Tignes also has one of the most famous New Year parties in the Alps.

Tignes ski resort (pronounce it 'Teens') is one half of the stunning Espace Killy, one of the biggest linked ski areas in France. Because of its high-altitude terrain and access to the Grande Motte glacier, the resort is open both earlier and later in the season than many others and often the lifts are running for short periods of summer skiing. Predominantly purpose built, the resort itself is divided into 5 villages, each different in its own way but all well linked by lifts and bus services. The main area...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"They need to sort out the rooms"

Tim
3/ out of 5
They’ve just had it re-fitted and although the food was fantastic, I wouldn’t go back there as the rooms were awful. We thought we had booked a normal twin but it turned out to be an Austrian twin, so I had to sleep right next to my mate. We spoke to one of the builders and the bathroom was supposed to have frosted glass but it was clear, so when one of us was using the shower or toilet you could see! Also every time you opened the bathroom door, you knocked the light card reader off which was annoying.

"Good activities, would be better if ski in / out"

Philip Wraighte, Littlehampton
3/ out of 5
The staff were very friendly and some of the activities they organised were really good, I took my daughter and they organised a treasure hunt which she really enjoyed. They also did a lot of taking people who wanted to go skiing around the resort, which we didn't use but would be good for other people. The location is quite convenient as the swimming pool, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance, however if I was going back to the same resort I would probably pick a hotel that's further up the mountain so you could ski straight out, here you have to get the bus up to the lifts which came every 15-20 minutes, a couple of times we missed the bus by 30 seconds and then had to wait for ages. The bus stop isn’t right outside the door either, you have to go via a few steps which isn’t ideal if you have children and ski equipment. The food was pretty good, there weren’t many vegetarian options though but my daughter enjoyed her meals. We had a twin room which had enough space and a nice view. The lifts sometimes weren’t working or had a lot of traffic (especially on checking in / out days), sometimes you had to wait for ages as they could only carry two people at a time.
