· 10 minutes' walk to the village centre
You’ll get an excellent first impression when you arrive at the Hotel Steinbach. The stately grand-style entrance sets up high expectations that the team inside are proud to match. Ruhpolding’s an attractive village with lots to do - and the Steinbach fits in perfectly.
It's a traditional hotel with a modern take on Bavarian style. The small and relaxed bar area and dining rooms look great. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and many have balconies or terraces giving great views towards the church and the surrounding mountains.
It’s about a 10-minute stroll to Ruhpolding’s centre, but there’s a shuttle bus service that’ll get you where you need to be – free with your Chiemgau Card. If you’ve got kids learning the basics, then there’s a small beginners area with Bobo’s Kinderclub right behind the hotel.
The wellness facilities are seriously good too, including the Kanin and Finnish saunas, a Hammam-style steam bath and Kneipp bath. Plus, there’s a relaxation area, whirlpool and a really attractive pool - big enough to swim some laps, or just have a splash about. We also love the herbal rain showers.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
