Great location

Set on the hillside above the resort of Zermatt, the Hotel Schonegg has fantastic views of the Matterhorn which can be enjoyed from the public areas and many of the south facing hotel rooms, and when the conditions are right, you can ski straight back to the door. Hop on the Schönegg-Express - an elevator and tunnel in the mountain, to access the village centre and the Sunnegga lift station, from here you have access to 360 kilometres of slopes.

Fantastic food

The award winning Restaurant Saveurs has been awarded 14 Gault Millau points for its high quality service and cuisine. Each morning an extensive alpine buffet breakfast with a range of local products is served, including a range of hot and cold options. In the evening, enjoy a four course fine dining meal created by resident chef Reinhold Wrobel. The menu represents authentic regional cuisine, with the use of fresh local produce. Uncorked is an intimate and cosy bistro style restaurant, with over 80 regional wines and freshly prepared light bites, it is a lovely spot to admire views of the Matterhorn with friends and family.

Unwind and relax

The hotel has a traditional alpine style with natural wood and stone used throughout, each room varies in style and design, creating a warm and cosy retreat after a day of skiing. The hotel features a residence only spa, featuring two whirlpools, a Finnish sauna and steam room, plus a relaxation area with waterbeds and a Kneipp basin. For the ultimate treat, a massage will round off your well-being experience - guests staying at the hotel recieve a 10% discount on the first massage. Zermatt belongs to Switzerland's Valais canton, which rubs shoulders with the Italian Alps. You'll find it surrounded by nearly a third of Europe's 4000m peaks and, most notably, right at the foot of the Matterhorn. Even if you haven't heard of this mountain, chances are you'd recognise it - national landmark of Switzerland, the inspiration for the Toblerone and a peak photographed more than any other. Besides the picturesque scenery, these mighty mountains come with a cool climate, ever-white glaciers and ...
There are 200km of runs in the local area alone and a massive 360km overall if you count the Matterhorn's Italian side. With Cervina, Zermatt forms the 'Matterhorn Ski Paradise' where SNO lovers of all abilities are blessed with high altitude terrain - and lots of it! Everyone's a winner in a ski area this big and brilliant. Still, if we had to pick where it shines, we'd say it's incredibly fantastic for intermediate and advanced level skiers and snowboarders. If you're a keen beginner, you'll love Zermatt,...
Zermatt has voted the world's best après ski resort by the World Snow Awards in the past, making it a wise choice if you want a whale of a time post-skiing. Sure – it doesn't come cheap, but you won't find better if you want quality. Across sixty bars and numerous nightclubs, you can relax, unwind and party through the night. Harry's Bar is the place to dance to cheesy pop and Papperla offers a pubby atmosphere, but you can't come to Zermatt without being tempted into the Hennu Stall (at the end of the Furi-Ze...

"Good comfortable clean hotel"

Aisling
5/ out of 5
The hotel felt like a grown up hotel, not many families, it was a good comfortable clean hotel. It had all the facilities needed for a skiing holiday. The staff were lovely, offering useful tips, the service was very polished. The food was good almost too good, 5-course meal every day ended up defeating us, they allowed us to change and pick from the al a carte menu. The hotel was well located, we could walk to the closest lift in 5- 10 mins.
