Overview: hotel description: Hotel Principi di Piemonte description

The Principi’s getting a top-to-bottom makeover for Winter 2023/24. There’ll be a swish, designer look in the bar and restaurant, and upstairs, the bedrooms will be decked out with all-new furniture and stylish mood lighting.

Location-wise, you’ll be staying piste-side, so you can click straight in each morning and slide right back to the hotel when you’re done. Or you can hop on the hotel shuttle if you’re still learning the ropes at ski school.

As for extras, the spa has mountain wellness wrapped up with its pool, sauna and steam room. Or for a tipple and a chinwag, try the hotel bar instead. And if you’re here with little ones, the activities and games consoles at the hotel’s kids’ club are bound to be a crowd-pleaser.

Food’s a real highlight here as well, starting with the buffet breakfasts, where you’ve got all the faves, from eggs and bacon to coffee, croissants and even freshly cooked crêpes. Then to wrap up the day, it’s all about alpine fare done Italian style, with dumplings, stews and creamy risottos all on the menu.

The wonderful thing about Sestriere is that it’s really easy to reach – only about an hour and a half by car from Turin airport. Things are just as convenient when you arrive: This was the first purpose built resort in the Alps (thanks to the owners of Fiat). While it won’t be found on any lists of the world’s prettiest ski towns, its handy location more than makes up for it - high on the mountainside in the Northern Province of Turin, near the Franco-Italian border. Most hotels are rated 3/4 stars, while ...
There’s a whopping 400km of slopes to explore here, and the fact that it hosted the 2006 winter Olympics is a fine mark of quality. Two local ski areas - Mount Sises and Motta - are accessible directly from the town and with the Milky Way lift pass in hand, you can ski far and wide across the Via Lattea. Sauze d'Oulx is easy to reach by gondola, and Sestriere’s also a super base for day trips across the border to Montgenevre in France. One of the best things for beginners is the price of ski lessons – which a...
Après-ski livens up at the weekends with the influx of local Italians who come to enjoy their free time in the town. During the week the resort is more relaxed but still offers a fun vibe and good nightlife with plenty of bars to wind down in and reminisce over the days adventures. Groups will always find great places to spend their evenings with a few drinks and delicious food. For those all-important après-ski drinks, Pinky’s Pizzeria is the place to be (and if you’ve worked up an appetite on the slopes, i...

"Really good location!"

David
4/ out of 5
The hotel was great! But you do have to go down a concrete staircase to get to the lockers and its quite tricky in ski boots. Not well lit either. They hadn’t taken the Christmas decorations down and we went in February! Very alpine lodge feel to the hotel. Rooms were on the smaller side but still enough for what we needed. The food was great but not memorable. We stayed in every night though. There were not a lot of restaurants within close proximity, so we couldn’t really go out. The resort is quiet compared to Sauze d’Oulx. You cross the road outside the hotel and you join the piste down to the lifts. Getting back at the end of the day was the same aswell. Great location! Location is great and would go again because of this. Great value for money too. No bars or restaurants near by was the only downside.

Accommodation was great. No area to socialise though, like a large bar area (bar was small). Good size rooms with balconies. No wine included with dinner and was expensive to buy. Cheaper to buy out of hotel and bring back. Drinks were expensive. Best to buy at shops and bring back if you can. But not to the bar. Food was great! Ski locker room was a bit crammed/busy. Ski into the hotel was really handy. Overall, very happy 4.5/5

"Best to avoid LG floor, otherwise a good hotel"

A comfortable hotel. The food was good and plentiful and the staff were nice. In terms of location, you can walk about 30 seconds (10 metres up a little slope) from the boot room and get out on a little run down to the main lift. The room they put us in was next to the gym – the fitness centre was only open until 8 at night which was fine, but the gym is actually open 24 hours, so we woke up to noise from someone on a running machine in the early hours. I would say to avoid the lower ground bedrooms if you can. 2/5 for our room, 3/5 for the hotel in general.
