Navigating in Avoriaz can vary, as distances from Hotel Neige et Roc, Les Prodains to ski lifts are in a straight line.
If you're looking for somewhere laid-back to lay your head where you can also rack up the miles, look no further. The Neige et Roc’s right in the middle of Les Prodains, a charming little village in the massive Portes du Soleil ski area. You’ve got the Prodains Express cable car just down the road which’ll whisk you up to Avoriaz, and you can jump on the ski bus for 15 minutes to fill your boots with the slopes over in Morzine. Just getting started? Build your confidence on the quiet nursery area opposite the hotel before ski school.
The hotel itself’s got a storybook look – we’re talking little windows with gingham curtains, chairs with heart-shaped carvings and wood panelling here, there and everywhere. And there’s some fab facilities to make use of when you’re not up on the mountain, like a hot tub and sauna overlooking the jagged peaks and snowy trees. Feeling competitive? Spend a relaxed evening playing board games in the comfy lounge.
You’re in for a treat when it comes to food too. At the breakfast buffet, go for a classic coffee and croissant combo or tuck into a fresh omelette with a side of bacon. In the evening you’ll be eating French fare with a fine-dining feel, and you’ll even get to try some Savoyard specialities one night of your trip. Les Prodains hasn’t really got an après scene so you’ll need to head over to Avoriaz or Morzine for something lively, or you can round things off in the hotel bar with a nightcap.
