Overview: hotel description: Hotel Monte Sella description

When you stay at Hotel Monte Sella it feels like you’re staying with a family friend. Nobert and Cristina are excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them or their wonderful team. The Art Nouveau building makes it seem like you’ve stepped back in time and there’s little nostalgic touches throughout the property. The rooms are great with lots of space and comfy beds to collapse in at the end of the day.

The hotel's location means you are only 50 metres away from the ski lifts, so you can be skiing the world-class runs of the Dolomiti Superski in no time. The hotel also organises free guided skiing, snow-shoeing and a fun ski race for guests on selected dates. You’re right in the centre of the resort too so there’s plenty of bars and shops in easy walking distance.

Make sure to leave lots of room for breakfast and dinner as the food here is great. The chef uses local, organic produce and you can enjoy some lovely traditional South Tyrolean dishes. We highly recommend taking a day out to enjoy the spa too.

Transfer time: 2 hour 30 mins from Innsbruck airport.

This package holiday to Hotel Monte Sella in Kronplatz, Italy departs Saturday 31st January 2026, for a 7 night stay on a "half board" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

Authentic Tyrolean charm Pristine pistes Excellent lift system

It’s hard to believe somewhere with so many accolades should be relatively unheard of in comparison to the European big guns, but Kronplatz is always a deserving champion. Ticking off all the essentials, this South-Tyrolean destination is home to charming villages, superb skiing, amazing food and lively après – with an exceptionally modern lift system that’s truly world-class.

Voted ‘Italy’s best Ski Resort’ by Mountain Management in 2012, Kronplatz is nestled in South-Tyrol amid the natural parks of a legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Italian Dolomites. It’s the largest of 3 resorts in the Pustertal valley, having around 3 times the ski area of neighbouring Speikboden and Klausberg. You’d be forgiven for being a little puzzled by these Austrian names – and understandably so, considering Kronplatz et al sit pretty comfortably within the Italian border. To clear this u...
The skiing is mostly concentrated on the Kronplatz mountain, great for nailing maximum piste-time without the hassle of travelling over to different regions. The beginners’ skiing is fantastic, with plenty of gentle and spacious pistes. An awesome set of blue runs include Plateau and Sonne at the summit and Miara, a lovely long training slope extending down to the main gondola at San Vigilio. The children’s Safety Park beside the Olang run has a medley of natural and manmade obstacles as well as room to pra...
There’s a fine choice of mountain venues that come alive in the afternoons. The rustic CoroneS Hutte at Concordia 2000 switches from serving lunches in its restaurant to schnapps and bombardinos in its umbrella bar, meanwhile Kron-Treff next door gets the drinks flowing to some pumping music. Further down in the valley, Bus Stop at San Vigilio is one of the resort’s most popular go-to’s, the DJ’s and live bands tend to draw in quite a bustling crowd, whilst karaoke nights and themed parties can get pretty ...
