Overview: hotel description: Hotel Mignon description

Hotel Mignon is an impressive hotel thanks to the Designori family's attentive service. They've been running the place for more than 50 years so make sure you ask for their tips on the best ski runs or things to do. The hotel has a traditional feel and plenty of facilities to occupy your week. We love the state-of-the-art spa - the massage jets in the indoor pool are perfect after a day skiing.

The dining room serves up traditional food and they use local produce so everything tastes fresh. You'll get a more refined dinner experience here with great service. Pair your meal with a nice bottle from their cellar for a perfect evening. When it's time to hit the pillow retreat to your comfortable classic or Alpine style bedroom. If you are bringing the family, the larger superior rooms are great for sharing with the kids.

Getting onto the slopes couldn't be easier - the Ciampinoi gondola is only a five-minute walk away and there's a free shuttle that'll take you there in the mornings. The centre of Selva is within walking distance too and the hotel's location on the edge of town means you get fantastic views of the valley.

Transfer time: approx. 3 hours by coach from Innsbruck airport.

Selva is the best known and highest of Val Gardena’s close-set group of villages, which also include Ortisei and Santa Cristina. Val Gardena is part of the expansive Dolomiti Superski area and topping the list of reasons to visit the Dolomites, or ‘Pale Mountains’, is its status as a UNESCO world heritage site - Selva has some striking views of the Sassolungo massif and Puez mountains on either side. Named “Sëlva” by its Ladin speaking locals (the name apparently comes from the Ladin word for wood) or “...
The nursery slopes are close to town and there’s a nice collection of blues towards one side of Piz Seteur and at Plan de Gralba (it’s worth mastering the bus timetable when going onto Plan de Gralba as taking the mountain route can land a beginner on some rather tricky reds). There are a number of ski school options available as well as a Fun Park for the younger-hearted. Just by looking at the piste map you can see the intermediate-friendly nature of the skiing here. For those re-discovering their ski leg...
Italian resorts don’t tend to be overly wild when it comes to après ski but with 20 bars, 45 restaurants and 2 main clubs Selva does rather well... If you’ve never had the iconic Bombardino beverage, this is a good place to sample one! Bar Saltos is a good foodie spot with a sometimes themed menu and music scene for later on. La Stua, near the Costabella ski lift, is great for après ski with a sunny terrace and live music. By the Dantercepies, Panorama does some hearty dishes, perfect before the final run...

"I’d rate it a 5/5!"

Melanie
5/ out of 5
The hotel was brilliant, can’t fault it. The staff were all really polite and helpful and very smartly dressed. The spa was lovely, with really unusual things too like water beds to lay on etc. It was really a super hotel. I don’t know what we’d do differently really, we had a great time. The food was the best food ever on a ski holiday! It was superb, really good. I don’t eat meat and prefer to eat more healthily and there was always an option for healthy options and not so healthy options too, so it was really good. The hotel was really good, they had transport to go to the lifts or you could quite easily walk to the centre of town lift. Access would have been easier coming home, but snow wasn’t up to scratch for our week. The skiing around Sella Ronda was nice and very picturesque but obviously very different to a French resort in terms of the length of slopes and that kind of thing, but that suited me perfectly. It was ideal!
