Overview: hotel description: Hotel Marielle description

The Hotel Marielle is ideally located in Val Thorens, with front-row seats to the piste and ski-in, ski-out facilities.

Each morning, you can pop on your gear and head straight out onto the snow. The ski school meeting point is just a few seconds' ski past the covered magic carpet lift, while a range of chairlifts and cable cars – taking you high up into the Three Valleys ski area – are a quick trip away. And at the end of the day, all the runs back into Val Thorens end up close to the hotel too, so you don’t have to worry about trudging far back to the hotel ski room.

When you’re not skiing, the resort’s bars, restaurants and activities aren’t far either. For example, the public Centre Sportif de Val Thorens – with indoor pool, spa and fitness centre – is only a couple minutes’ walk away. If you’d rather just stay put, you can have a few drinks on the hotel's outdoor terrace, soaking up the last few hours of the day’s sun. And when it's time for the evening meal, head to the spacious restaurant and load up with all your favourites from the buffet.

The bedrooms themselves sleep from two to four people, meaning couples, friends and families can all secure their piste-side spot.

2300m at the top of the Three Valleys ski area, VT is the highest ski resort in Europe and part of the biggest linked ski area on the planet. While it's a place for people who, above all else, love to ski, you'll also find some of the country's best après including the legendary Folie Douce, as well as weird and wonderful activities like the 1300m Tyrolienne zip wire. Olde worlde gallic charm it isn't, but skiers will wake up to find some of the best snow in the Alps on their doorstep, and the views over the...
At the summit of the largest ski area in the world and bordering the Vanoise National Park, this is a spectacular place to ski and board. Beginners are well catered for on nursery slopes by the Rond Point des Pistes, where the magic carpets often don't require a lift pass. Kids will love the Junior Park, while the Musaraigne and Campagnols runs in the beginner's area and the new Deux Combes green are perfect to practice on. With a bit more confidence, take the Pionniers or Plein Sud chairs for some cruisy lon...
The après ski here easily rivals other top resorts in the Alps. If you haven't already had the Folie Douce experience, head just under the Plein Sud lift where the "dancefloor on top of the world" is heaving from 3 pm. Another place to party is Bar 360 at the end of the blue Moraine run, which always has live music and cheaper drinks. Back in town, Rue de Gebroulaz is a hub of lively bars where O'Connells is the local Irish pub. The Frog and Roastbeef is a long-time favourite of Brits. L'Eclipse on Galerie Caro...

"Location was very good, just as what I expected"

Simon
4/ out of 5
The trip was very good. The best level is at the reception and I think there is a missed opportunity to have some seating there. We were at the same level as the reception and sometimes it got a little noisy on that level, but other than that all fine. Everything that we wanted it to be: ski in/ski out, in Val Thorens etc. was absolutely perfect. It’s quite a 4* family friendly hotel. The only thing I’d say is that I’d probably rate it more as a high 3* star hotel, when comparing it to other 4* hotels we’ve been to before. The price for the hotel and the experience was ok but I probably would go for a different 4* hotel next time around. The food was good, buffet style. My son preferred the buffet each night but my expectations were for more of an a la carte style food service. Other than that it was all fine. Ski in/ski out. It was dead easy to get to the slopes, just walk out the ski room and it’s there. We knew where it was anyway before we went, so yes it was great location.
