The hotel was brilliant. Well rounded for location, cleaniness, and suitability. Centrally located, a two minute walk from the two main lifts and gondola, and the same distance / time from the apres ski bars and popular restaurants. No noise disturbance from other rooms or guests. Breakfast was basic but nice, ... + more

Spectacular views of Mont Blanc aren’t the only bonus of the glacier - this ‘upside down’ ski resort is one of the most snow-sure in the Alps, so much so that you can ski here in the summertime. Much loved for its après ski, the town's main strip is bursting with some of the best bars in the mountains.

Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925 when the first ski tow was built. The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town when in reality the name stems from the two villages on either side of the settlement: Mont De Lans and Venosc. The resort is compact, and you’...
There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about Les Deux Alpes is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the ski escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. The run home at the end of the day used to have a fearsome reputation for being overcrowded...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in Les Deux Alpes. One of the best bars in resort is Pano bar, this slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m comes alive at happy hour between 3 pm and 5 pm every day with discounted drinks and a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as live entertainment on several night...

"Amazing balcony views. 2 minute walk from lifts and après ski"

Dave Lucas
5/ out of 5
The hotel was brilliant. Well rounded for location, cleaniness, and suitability. Centrally located, a two minute walk from the two main lifts and gondola, and the same distance / time from the apres ski bars and popular restaurants. No noise disturbance from other rooms or guests. Breakfast was basic but nice, no complaints there. Staff always smiling and friendly. Couldn't do enough to help. Beds were comfortable and clean, the cleaners did a good job on a daily basis. Our group had three rooms next to each other with joining balconies. Mountain views. Well recommend would happily stay here again. We stayed in March 2015

"Incredible hospitality"

The hotel was lovely and my partner and I really enjoyed it. The neighbours weren’t too loud and we liked that there was a balcony so you could socialise, which we did on a few occasions. We liked the fact that our room was clean and spacious and wasn’t too cold at night either. Everything on the inside is really nice and cosy and the young lady who was there really looked after us and showed us great hospitality. Breakfast was included and was quite nice (just your average options), the lady was there waiting for our requests so there was no having to wait around in the mornings. The location you're in is ideal as you have access to all the different parts of the slopes and if we wanted to explore the town further, we could just step outside.

"Basic but good meals, service, value & central"

The hostel had everything we needed, it was basic but had good meals, good service and was generally good value. It’s quite central so you could just walk to the slopes and stuff in 10-15 minutes. Inside is traditional - just what I’m familiar with in terms of ski hotels, simple furnishing but everything you need. We had a nice balcony area from our room which ran around the edge of the hotel and you share the balcony with other rooms. It was just me and my boyfriend who stayed here, it’s not a hugely coupley place but I’d recommend it to other people – it seemed really popular with groups so I’d definitely recommend it for that.
