Overview: hotel description: Hotel Les Balcons, Belle Plagne description

Looking for a slopeside stay with plenty Savoyard-style charm? Add the Hotel Les Balcons to your shortlist. It’s set just metres from the centre of pretty Belle Plagne, with its wooden buildings and cosy bars. And when it’s time to hit the slopes, just step outside and click in to explore the huge Paradiski area.

The hotel itself has an authentic feel, from the stone walls and timber balconies to the old ski gear and photographs inside. The lounge is dotted with comfy couches and armchairs, with a proper open fireplace where you can warm your toes after a day in the snow.

If relaxation is a post-piste priority, make tracks to the hotel’s wellness area which is just 50m away. Enjoy some leisurely lengths in the pool, soothe your ski muscles in the sauna or treat yourself to massage if you fancy a little extra pampering.

The food is another highlight here. Set yourself up for the ski day with a continental buffet and in the evenings head to the restaurant for three courses of tasty mountain dishes. There are plenty of regional favourites on the menu, like cheesy fondues. And to cap off your meal, you can pull up a stool at the small bar in the corner of the restaurant to sip a nightcap before bed.

In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...

There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...
