In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

Our holiday was very good The room we had met our needs perfectly and the staff were really good. The evening staff/waiting staff were all really helpful, kind and friendly, all good! We went into town a little bit but tended to stay in and play games. There’s quite a large bar area which had enough seating that you could have several groups in there and we weren’t really interfering with each other. So we could do our own thing, play some board games and have a chat – it was all really good. I would give the holiday a 9/10, we really enjoyed it! The evening meals were really good, the only downside was that the breakfast wasn’t great – that would be the only criticism I would have. They had 4 or 5 choices for dinner each night, if I remember correctly there was one thing that was the same right the way through as a sort of anchor. The rest of it varied and there was always a decent amount of choices and we were all happy with it. For breakfast I think they struggled to keep up with demand at breakfast to be honest. The cooked options tended to come out all at once and then quite often it would sit and go cold. It would be better to try and keep it coming steadily rather than it all coming in big batches. The same went for the plates and bowls for breakfast, there would be The location, ski in/ski out, worked very well and having the ski hire right in the basement was very good. The lockers were excellent too.
