Overview: hotel description: Hotel Le Flaine description

Looking to stay somewhere unique? Well, the Hotel Le Flaine is a listed building that’s famous for its Brutalist design, which uses concrete and sharp lines to mimic the surrounding mountains. It even juts out over the edge of the peak, so you know the views are going to be great too.

Historic as the outside is, the inside has an on-trend looks from top to bottom. The spacious rooms have a cool white-and-grey theme, bunk beds in their own little nooks, and big windows so you can take in the scenery. And the rest of the hotel’s just as stylish – from the spa with its hot tubs and sauna, to the bar where you can wrap up the day with a drink by the fire.

Going away as a family? Book the little ones into our childcare clubs, based here in the hotel, so they can have fun with activities and games while you pack in some extra piste time.

At just an hour's drive from Geneva, Flaine's known as a 'fly-in, ski-in ski-out' resort. The ease of skiing that families and keen skiers rave about here's no accident – legendary architect Marcel Lajos Breuer designed it to be as ski friendly as possible, and he did a jolly good job. A ski lift or piste is never far away, and the town itself is entirely traffic-free, with cars only allowed to enter to drop off and pick up luggage. Whilst it won't be winning the gong for chocolate box charm, Breuer's work...
With its high altitudes producing outstanding ski conditions throughout the season, Flaine is famed for offering an all-round ski area with plenty of slopes for all abilities. It is the perfect place for some quality skiing or snowboarding. Flaine is a popular place to learn to ski or snowboard and even has free beginners lifts for those who are finding their feet. The schools all have English speaking instructors who can guide you through the basics and have you gliding down the slopes in no time. Once you...
The excellent skiing in the resort is matched by fun après ski, and there's something to suit everyone - from a family night out to an all-night party thanks to a range of places to eat, drink and dance. If you're staying in Flaine Forum, you'll enjoy all the restaurants and bars right on your doorstep. The après is a short bus ride from Flaine Foret which is considered the slightly more residential part of Flaine. You can get a ski lift or shuttle bus into the town for après so you won't be missing out. ...

"As an overall package we were very pleased. "

Crispin

The staff were very good and very helpful. My impression of the hotel was it looked uninspiring, but once inside the rooms, there was nothing wrong with it, it was just like a standard room. Dare I say, it was like a Premier Inn room or something, nothing to grumble at, it was all fine. It was a budget holiday, but given what we paid I’d rate it a 4/5. I think the best way to phrase it would be good value for money. To summarise, the holiday was all fine and there were no real grumbles. I got on better with the food than my wife did. All the offerings weren’t always available, but as an overall impression it was all fine. The skiing went very well, and we had a good week of skiing. Very pleased to have a lot of snow there and it was very close to the slopes and lifts. This is the main reason we chose this option, for how easy and close it was to the skiing.

"Generally fine!"

The hotel was fine for what we wanted; I went with my 11 year old son who’s a fussy eater, so chalet dinners (where you only have one dish on offer) weren’t an option. Here we had a big buffet with lots of choice – they did themed evenings so there was variety each night, Spanish one evening, American the next… At 4-5 O’clock each evening they had some kind of food on offer for kids (like candy floss one night) which was nice. The only thing was that when we booked there was something in the package about having a card that gave you a certain amount of credit at the bar. When we booked in there was no mention and we only found out the night before we checked out, an hour before the bar closed! It seemed quite disorganised. I think it was probably because the hotel didn’t really cater to Brits, we were one of three British, English speaking families out of about 200 people (it was probably 95% French), and the other guests were obviously all booked onto a different package. They were all there on full board whereas we only had half board. The hotel itself was fine, not luxurious but basic and functional. It had a good boot room and the bedrooms were clean and alright. It wasn’t overly noisy in the evenings. It's is quite conveniently located for the ski slopes and lessons with ESI. It’s not the prettiest hotel but Flaine isn’t the prettiest resort. We liked that Flaine has a short transfer time from the airport, however once we got to the resort this was the last hotel the bus drop off, so we were driving around the resort for another hour.
