We really enjoyed it there because we liked the fact it was ski in ski out and easy to access the slopes. One downside is the rooms were very small, so we were struggling for space a bit, which is often the case in these high, purpose-built resorts. Rooms were basic but we knew that anyway. it was fine. Good evening entertainment, they did a quiz night one evening – Brillinat holiday would happily go back next year. Good selection of food every evening. I had cooked breakfast which was a nice treat. The free evening wine was not the best quality but ... + more

This ski-in, ski-out hotel has great spot - at the bottom of the mountain that it's named after. And it isn't just easy-peasy access to the Paradiski area that sets this stay apart. With free kids' clubs included, it's just the ticket for family trips too.

Decór-wise, they've kept things simple but snug, with lots of cheery reds from the carpets to the cushions. Upstairs, comfy bedrooms have your holiday essentials covered, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows to let the scenery do all the talking.

Big buffet breakfasts set you up for a session on the slopes. Pop back around midday to choose from homemade dishes at lunch, and in the evening, refill your glass with the unlimited wine at dinner, and enjoy the weekly raclette night for a cheesy treat.

Les Arcs came to be in 1968 after a group of ski instructors and architects dreamt up a resort with all the perks of a village but a mountainside location. As you'd expect from one of the biggest ski areas on the planet, there's everything from gorgeous tree-lined runs to wild, white-knuckle off-piste. For beginners, each of the 3 main Arcs has 'ski tranquille' zone, and the wide beginner runs leading to the resort have gentle gradients perfect for practising. Local instructors are on hand to show you the ropes, with ski schools based in each of the main villages (1800 has the most). If you're looking for a party, Arc 1800 is the place to be. With heaps of watering holes like the Red Hot Saloon (or the 'Red Bar' to use local lingo), Benji's and La Folie Douce. We really enjoyed it there because we liked the fact it was ski in ski out and easy to access the slopes. One downside is the rooms were very small, so we were struggling for space a bit, which is often the case in these high, purpose-built resorts. The staff were helpful and friendly – they sorted a mix up with the keys one night very efficiently. The food options were really good. It was buffet style but it changed every night and there were lots of options. However, it was a little frustrating that they weren’t great at accommodating our dietary requirements/allergies. 3.5/4 . We used the hotel bar area a few times for quick drinks, but there is a great bowling alley close by which has a good bar too with music and pizzas.
