Overview: hotel description: Hotel Kandahar description

If you’re seeking refined and contemporary Savoie chic, the Hotel Kandahar is the spot for you. Couples, small groups and older families would all enjoy the atmosphere at this central Val d’Isère hotel.

Style is a consistent feature, with corridors downlit for intimacy and lined with black and white photos, newspaper cuttings and poems. There are just 46 rooms. and they're spacious and have a range of textures, from matte walls to fur throws to wooden wall panelling.

The restaurant serves an à la carte menu, as well as a 3-course set menu with two choices for each course. The framed winter Olympic prints lining the restaurant walls remind you that you are in fact in a ski resort and not a boutique city centre hotel.

This package holiday to Hotel Kandahar in Val d'Isere, France departs Saturday 5th April 2025, for a 7 night stay on a "bed & breakfast" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

Rooms were amazing! They used the space in the rooms/bathrooms very well. Honestly it was outstanding! Hotel was very clean aswell. Definitely deserves a higher rating. All the staff were fantastic. 100% recommend! Breakfast buffet was basic, but had everything you needed. The hotel restaurant was dinner was outstanding, we ate there a few times. We were great options for eating out nearby aswell We are used to ski in/out so this was something different. Just a short walk to the slopes. Nightlife slightly overrated and very expensive. Would recommend the hotel highly. Not so much Val d’Isere. Overall an outstanding hotel!
