Overview: hotel description: Hotel Grand Paradiso description

The Grand Paradiso’s a stand-out pick in Passo Tonale, with a high-quality feel from top to bottom. To hit the slopes, simply climb the steps behind the hotel, click into your skis and set off. Or, if you’re still learning, it’s an easy 10-minute walk to the ski school.

The design hits the sweet spot between sleek and snug. There's a mix of rooms, some with a modern look, decked out in creams and whites, and others that have a more traditional feel. And you can take your pick from loads of different room types, from simple singles and twins all the way up to suites with multiple bedrooms and balconies.

As for meals, there’s big buffets served up every morning and evening, and as an extra perk, you’ll get free drinks included with dinner too. Then to mix things up a bit, you can eat in the à la carte Pasta & Pizza restaurant one night.

To up the holiday mood a notch, slip off to the spa – you can pay around €50 per person to use it for the whole week. And, if you're holidaying as a family, make the most of our childcare clubs, where kids can have fun with games in the snow, crafts and soft play.

Up in the Rhaetian Alps at 1883m, rubbing shoulders with Trentino and Lombardy, the purpose-built town of Tonale is one of the highest resorts in the country. With a top altitude of 3016m, snow is guaranteed throughout the season here, as there are lots of Italian sunshine. As a beginner, having to take loads of lifts to reach easy runs can be a bit daunting. You don’t have to worry about this here, with most blue runs near hotels and bars, for those all-important hot chocolate breaks. Nursery slopes with magic carpets let learners work on snowploughs, in short, manageable bursts - when you begin to feel more comfortable, take the Valena chair lift for a couple of mid-length blues. 60% of the slopes have been carefully crafted for intermediates, leading in all directions for ...
Of course, one of the best things about Italy is its delectable delicacies. Whether you're looking for fast food to fill you after a hard days skiing (try La Torretta for their filling pizza) or a more authentic, native dining experience (El Bait serves local, genuine cuisine), you won't be disappointed. Il Focolare is well worth a visit for classic pasta and tiramisu – make sure you book early! Eating on a budget is easy, with fast food dishes from 5€, and you can usually grab a three-course meal for about 10...

"High quality."

Benjamin
4/ out of 5
Hotel was high quality staff were friendly. Best food I’ve had at a ski resort. Wine on table, quality of service was brilliant. But there was an outbreak of norovirus and 1 adult, 1 child got sick. Ruined 1 day. Walk up a steep hill to access slopes, 30m from ski lift. Crystal reps were not helpful though. Snow was great! Would suggest going in high season for best snow conditions. Short ski runs, but good for beginners. 3.5/5

"Would be great for families"

We had a really nice week and the hotel was good. They sort of upgraded us to a private dining area which was nice but a bit weird in that it was very quiet! The whole hotel was pretty quiet – there are a couple of nice bars there but one night we were the only 2 people in the whole bar! The staff were very nice and we’re going to keep in touch with the waitress as we got on so well with her. The food was great, it wasn’t overly Italian but more of an Italian take on different dishes. We especially enjoyed the wines. Our bedroom was ok, quite small but on a ski holiday you don’t need much. I think all the rooms have nice views, ours was looking out towards the glacier. The spa and pool facilities were really good! We could get to the slopes really quickly (we just had to go up some stairs and out) and at different times of year you would have been able to literally ski all the way back. It seemed like a really good hotel for families overall but the closeness to the slopes would be another reason I’d recommend it if you have children - it would make everything much easier. If you were more interested in the nightlife you would probably want to stay somewhere more in the centre of Tonale (although it was only a short walk anyway).
