Overview: hotel description: Hotel Fanes description

Hotel Fanes is one of the best hotels in the Val Badia area. The luxurious alpine hotel provides cosy rooms, delicious meals and a lovely wellness centre. Its sunny, elevated position means you get fantastic, panoramic views of the Dolomites.

Alpine hotel

The hotel opened in 1957 and had been one of the first hotels in San Cassiano. Formally a farmhouse, the hotel still retains the charm and character which is reflected in the modern alpine style throughout the hotel. We love the warm and spacious rooms here, each equipped with the modern amenities needed for a comfortable stay in Alta Badia. An added bonus is that most rooms have a spectacular mountain view, so you can enjoy the scenery even off the slopes.

Meals are equally as impressive, you can enjoy a tasty five course evening meal which features dishes from the South Tyrol - many of the ingredients are homegrown or produced in the Alta Badia area. The hotel has a fantastic wine menu, with wines from the South Tyrol and Italy. Be sure to speak to the sommelier for some good wine recommendations to go with your meal.

Fanes Spa World

If you are after a hotel with lovely spa facilities, the Hotel Fanes is an excellent choice. With an extensive indoor spa area with a variety of saunas and steam rooms, a relaxation room with heated water beds, and an indoor pool, there is plenty to keep you occupied. There is also an outdoor sky pool with panoramic views and a brine bath in the garden. Elements is the latest addition to the Fanes Spa World. It is a cylindrical sauna suspended nine meters above the ground which rotates by itself. Thanks to the sauna's large window it gives guests breath taking 360 degree view of the surrounding Dolomites.

Ski shuttle

Getting on and off the slopes each day couldnt be easier, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from the Piz Sorega lift. Once you head up the Piz Sorega, you can head over to the slopes of Alta Badia, Arabba, Val di Fassa and the Val Gardena - all conveniently linked by the Sella Ronda ski circuit. At the end of the day, head back to the car park at the Piz Sorega valley station for your lift back to the hotel - be sure to leave time for a visit to the spa!

With the craggy peaks of La Varella, Conturines and Lagazuoi overhead, this is a dreamy Dolomite village of Tyrolean timber buildings and an 18th century church. A cocktail of Italian, Austrian and Ladin cultures come together here in South Tyrol – earning the resort its three names of San Cassiano (to the Italians), St. Kassian (for German-speakers) and San Ciascian (in the Ladin mother tongue). For such a tiddly settlement (just a field for farming livestock about a century ago), San Cas has a lot t...
The Piz Sorega cable car whisks you up into the Alta Badia area which totals 130km of slopes. If that’s not enough to fill your boots with, there’s a whopping 1200km to explore when you look at the whole Dolomiti Superski. Alta Badia’s one of our favourite ski areas for beginners – abundant with wide, confidence-boosting blue runs and scenery that’ll have you hooked on skiing in no time. The Scuola Sci San Cassiano teach up at Piz Sorega, and once you’re confident stopping and turning on the practice ...
After drinks on the terrace of the Las Vegas Lodge, fabulous food and wine make up San Cassiano’s après ski scene. By hook or by crook, a table at St Hubertus in the Rosa Alpina Hotel is a must for any serious foodie – holder of THREE Michelin stars, chef Norbert uses Alpine flavours and unique techniques to create food worth travelling hundreds of miles to try. Also well worth experiencing is La Siriola, which has two Michelin stars for its characterful cuisine created by Chef Matteo Metullio. For a lively b...
