Considered a hidden gem in Zermatt, the Hotel Excelsior is a cosy family-run hotel which prides itself on personal service and great views of the Matterhorn.
The Hotel Excelsior is in a prime location just 250 metres to Zermatt's centre with plenty of shops and restaurants, and 400 metres to the Gornergratbahn and the Sunnegga Express funicular. The hotel has incredible views of the Swiss Alps, many of the rooms have either village views or look out onto the iconic Matterhorn. We recommend opting for a Double South Matterhorn View room where you can watch the sunrise over the spectacular mountains.
Available on Half Board or Bed & Breakfast, the Hotel Excelsior has options for everyone. The restaurant uses seasonal and local produce where possible, fuel up for the day at the extensive breakfast buffet with a variety of hot and cold options, when you return in the evening sample the four course menu inspired by the French and Swiss cuisines. Be sure to try out the restaurant's popular wine list with many bottles coming from the nearby Canton Valais vineyard region.
