Perhaps this pretty car-free village has gained a reputation as ‘Pearl of the Alps’ because it sits nestled in a powder bowl encircled by thirteen 4000m peaks. Massive mountains rise from every side of the valley like the peaks of a Toblerone bar, providing the village with a dramatic and awe-inspiring backdrop. Visitors rave about the high-altitude ski area, similar in height to neighbouring Zermatt, with its extensive glacier which allows for skiing almost all year round. Many ski teams choose to train here ...
The area has something to offer skiers and snowboarders of every level. It’s a good choice if you’re hitting the slopes for the first time as the nursery slopes are snow sure and there are some fantastic ski schools here. Take little learners to the local Kid’s Fun Park for an exciting and safe area with a magic carpet, slalom run, snow carousel and lots of fun toys. There are three ski schools to choose from and if you go further afield to Saas-Grund you’ll find the charming Hohsi Snowland which is a self-p...
For lunch head to Boccolino (next to the nursery slopes) which dishes up pizza, pasta and local specialities. On the other end of the scale is the decadent Fletschhorn, one of the top restaurants in the region, with one Michelin star and 18 points in the Gault Milau gourmet guide. It’s set in the Relais & Chateaux hotel, a 10-minute taxi ride from town. The young folk tend to hang out at Popcorn, a bar and club beneath the hotel of the same name. If you’re still feeling the buzz after a day on the slopes then ...

Staff were all lovely and food was really good – I just had evening meals and always enjoyed them. The building itself was adequate, it was very clean but a bit dated, with dormitory-like rooms, I don’t know if it’s the usual decor of Swiss hotels but everything was brown! The location was fine as there is a bus service that links to a hotel on the ski slopes where we were allowed to store our equipment. It meant we didn’t have to carry things there and back which made everything easier.

"Food was amazing and masses of it"

The best things about the resort was everything! It was fabulous everything we hoped for in a Swiss resort. My son loved the fact that the toboggan run was right behind us. We loved that it was so quiet, no cars, and the little train was fun. Although we walked everywhere. Liked dropping the skis off at the hire shop every night so didn’t have to carry them home, lead to shopping etc en route to the hotel. The best thing about the accommodation, the food was amazing and masses of it – we didn’t manage to finish all the courses yet. The home made bread was yum! The room was clean and comfortable and view was lovely. The hotel wasn’t too fussy either so we felt relaxed and didn’t have to be all dressed up after a hard day on the slopes. The staff were lovely too very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. Our rep was especially nice and we skied with her quite a bit she made the whole trip very special. Thanks for looking after us so well. We would definitely use your company again and recommend them to our friends. The service you gave was excellent especially for a short notice booking everything was flawless.
