Overview: hotel description: Hotel Des Dromonts description

The Hotel Des Dromonts is a unique hotel set in the historic district of Avoriaz - You will be taken back to the 1960s with the Morzine slate flooring, iconic designer furniture and purple, orange and red shades for a vintage-chic atmosphere. The hotel benefits from having easy access to the fantastic Portes du Soleil Ski Area, as well as the resort centre with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants.

Flashback to the 1960s

As soon as you enter the hotel, you are plunged into the world of the 1960s. It is a contemporary work of architecture, the building's "fan-shaped" design offers a panoramic views of the surrounding mountain peaks. The hotel had been designed by Jacques Labro who imagined it as a playground for big kids. The warm and cosy hotel has bright colours a retro designed furniture to take you straight back to the 60s, the décor of the rooms follows the theme too, with cedar wood work, plush furnishings and vibrant walls. Each room also has fantastic views across the snow capped mountains.

Central location

Surrounded by a landscape of magnificent snow-covered peaks and being ideally situated in the centre of Avoriaz, you benefit from having ski in/ ski out access to the expansive Portes du Soleil ski area, and with 600 kilometres of runs to explore - there is enough to keep you occupied for the week.

Relax and unwind

The style of the Spa at the Hôtel des Dromonts pays tribute to the classics of Avoriaz , materials such as wooden tiles and slate combined with psychedelic decoration make you feel at peace once you enter the wellness area. Sooth your achy ski legs in the outdoor whirlpool, or unwind in the sauna and hammam. There is also a relaxation area with suspended armchairs, which is perfect for a moment of peace. Treat yourself to a range of treatments including facials, manicures or relaxing and invigorating massages, which are available to book and pay for locally.

After a great day on the slopes of the Portes du Soleil, warm up in Le Festival bar with a hot chocolate, a local aperitif or a signature cocktail. With wool and leather armchairs and posters of the Avoriaz Fantastic Festival, it brings together the past and the present, it is a lovely area to enjoy after a day on the slopes or to have a cosy night in.

There are two superb restaurants to choose from, Les Enfants Terribles which is included with half board serving delicious evening meals inspired by the French cuisine, or receive credit towards informal dining in Le Festival restaurant which serves local specialities such as fondue or grilled meats, as well as burgers and other snack food.

Established in the 1960s as the brainchild of Olympic champion skier Jean Vuarnet, Avoriaz is a purpose build resort with tonnes of character. The wood-clad buildings have a striking appearance that set it apart from other destinations. Even more impressive is the 360° panorama of the Alps. Avoriaz is brilliantly located right in the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Completely ski-in ski-out, a holiday in Avoriaz means you don't have to lug your equipment around and you can maximise time on the slopes...
Avoriaz is one of our favourite resorts to bring the family - thanks to a huge and central children's village, complete with a specialised snowboarding area, children can learn to ski and ride in a fun and safe environment. Avoriaz is one of the only resorts that has a Beginner Pass, letting you find your feet on easy terrain via 14 lifts without the expense of a full lift pass. Beginners-only piste Première Glisse gives you the chance to improve at your own pace, while Proclou and Q'monts are easy blues for cr...
Avoriaz has worked hard on it's apres game in the last few years, with the addition of a well-known apres go to 'La Folie Douce' for winter 2018. It has an array of restaurants, bars and off-slope activities that contribute to a lively après ski scene. Le Tavallion is an English themed pub for a home-from-home atmosphere, Shooters is good for party-lovers while Le Yak tends to be the venue of choice for late-night clubbing. Ok, dated but cosy hotel. Liked the location. Sno staff were good before and after. Sno booked through Inghams. Was assured in advance that vegetarians and vegans would be catered for (checked a number of times before booking). They absolutely were not. Treatment by Inghams since is totally dissatisfactory. Has been drawn out, difficult and patronising. My first time ever complaining during/after a holiday and has left a bad taste (more so than the experience in resort). Better to book room only / B&B and then decide if you want to eat there
