We stayed in Flaine the year before in the Totum hotel which was literally next door to the Hotel Club Flaine. I preferred the Totum but it has been sold and turned into apartments so it wasn’t an option this time round.   • Hotel operated Kid’s Clubs: Baby club for 18 months to 3 years, 5 x 1/2 days per week Mon-Fri, 8.30 to 12h or 13.30 to 17h (6 half days from 20th Dec 2014-2nd Jan, 14th Feb-13th Mar & 4th Apr). Meal times not included. There is a charge of approximately €107 (€194 at Easter for full days 9h to 17h with meals included) to be paid locally.
  • Places must be requested at the time of booking. Am or pm sessions depending on availability locally.
  • Free non-skiing Mini club for 4-11yrs. French and English speaking staff keep children entertained with indoor and outdoor activities in multi-lingual groups. Mini club operates 5 days a week all season (9-12am and 2-5pm approx.). Children may be escorted to ski school. Meal times not included. Places must be requested at the time of booking.
  • Free Teenage club for 12-14 yrs available during French school holidays 17h to 21h

Note: This is a no-smoking hotel. French school holiday dates are 20th December 2014 to 2rd January, 14th February to 6th March & 4th April approximately. Children must have vaccination certificates. A €40 refundable deposit will be charged at check in. This is returned to all customers at the end of their stay when guests have handed back the room keys, TV remote control and room card.

"Fine but we preferred the Totum"

We stayed in Flaine the year before in the Totum hotel which was literally next door to the Hotel Club Flaine. I preferred the Totum but it has been sold and turned into apartments so it wasn’t an option this time round. When we got there at noon-ish the rooms weren’t available – we had an early morning flight and couldn’t get in the room until 3 in the afternoon which was a bit of a waste of the first day. The location is not as good as I would have liked; we couldn’t ski back to the hotel, you had to walk which wasn’t too far but there wasn’t much point having all inclusive as it wasn’t like you could just pop in and out for lunch. Inside the hotel was good, it had a sauna and 2 jacuzzis but they were a bit cramped and you had to get changed in really small rooms which only had enough space for 2 people at a time. Also we only had 3 quarters of an hour, which is fair enough, but meant you couldn’t fully relax as you knew you only had a certain amount of time. Our bedroom was a good size and generally the facilities in the room were good, although I would describe it as basic rather than well equipped. The food was generally good although for breakfast, the pan you had to use for boiling the eggs didn’t heat up properly and it took about 8-10 minutes to get a soft boiled egg - it would have been better if they had just done hard boiled eggs. Dinners were in general good, one evening they put on a melted cheese thing like a raclette, which would have been nice as an optional extra but you had to queue to get it. I would go back to Flaine but I’m not sure whether I would stay in this hotel again, I’d probably look around for somewhere else.
