Overall a really good hotel, we were a group of nine and everyone was happy with it. The food was good, they laid on a big buffet every night with maybe 7/8 meals to choose from – some local and other more usual dishes like chicken breast, lasagne… The twin rooms were ideal for us and fine in terms of space.... + more

The food was nice which was a bonus with my 14 year old son – they had a good variety of stuff, all buffet with bacon and eggs at breakfast time and 6-8 different things to pick between in the evenings (plus salad). They had a small bar which was good and had a happy hour (I think between 5-6) – the beer was ... + more

I stayed here with one other friend and we had a room with a double and 2 singles which was more than enough, bathroom was fine. As a hotel it’s not out of bounds to anyone and serves its purpose pretty well, I’d recommend it to anyone really! The hotel was absolutely fine, nicely placed on the edge of the ... + more

Not only is Pas de la Casa the highest ski resort in the Pyrenees (it sits at a lofty 2100m), but it’s also the sunniest. The après ski scene is arguably one of the best in Europe, and the resort is also home to some of the best shopping in the country… so far, so good! The first lift was installed by ski legend Francesc Viladomat in 1956, and the resort has been growing ever since. The village of Grau Roig was soon incorporated into the ski area, and when the resorts joined forces (and linked lifts) with ...
The variety of terrain is apparent as soon as you leave the village- from the six seater Font Negre or the smaller Costa Rodonda you’ll be able to access one of the regions snowparks, the boardercross track, beginners zone and a freeriding area. The beginners area at the base of the valley has a few incredibly gentle lifts and approachable nursery slopes and at the end of the day all levels of skier can ski right down into the village – the red/blue Tubs will take you virtually to the door of your hotel. ...
Pas de La Casa really comes into its own when it comes to the après scene, with locals and tourists alike taking liberal advantage of the duty free drink prices and late opening times. Eating out is much cheaper than you’d expect in a ski resort as well- most of the restaurants serve a selection of family friendly European food, though you’ll be able to find some local Andorran specialties (such as the warming escudella stew) at Costa Rodona. There’s a McDonalds and a Burger King for the unadventurous, w...

"Second stay in Cal Ruiz, unfortunately got norovirus"

We’d stayed at the Cal Ruiz last year, and our main reason for returning is because it was so cheap. It’s a normal ski hotel really, a bit out of town but that suited us. If it wasn’t for the fact that we got ill it would have been a different experience, however all ten of us got norovirus for the whole week so I don’t think we will be returning.

The food was good, they laid on a big buffet every night with maybe 7/8 meals to choose from – some local and other more usual dishes like chicken breast, lasagne… The twin rooms were ideal for us and fine in terms of space. The hotel is on the edge of town but it’s only a 5 minute walk to the ski slopes.

We had a brilliant week and are already trying to rebook it for next year! The hotel is warm, clean and comfy and the staff were very helpful. Its location is central enough that you’re within walking distance of everything, without having any issues with noise. The food was good, there was loads of choice and you could eat as much as you wanted. It was always hot rather than lukewarm and breakfasts and dinners were at good hours so we had plenty of time to get meals.

"Can’t fault apart from location"

The food was nice which was a bonus with my 14 year old son – they had a good variety of stuff, all buffet with bacon and eggs at breakfast time and 6-8 different things to pick between in the evenings (plus salad). They had a small bar which was good and had a happy hour (I think between 5-6) – the beer was buy one get one free and they also did fizzy drinks which my son had. The good thing about the happy hour was that as long as you bought the first drink within the time, you could come back down and get the free one whenever you wanted. We had a family room which had 3 single beds and was fine with plenty of room and lots of hot water. The only thing that was a drawback was the location; you’re on the main road close to the shops but it took a 10-15 minute walk to get to the slopes – you could take a short cut through the shopping arcade but it was still a bit of a walk. We were snowboarders so walking with our stuff wasn’t as hard as it would be with ski boots... I think there might have been lockers near the lifts which could make it easier. Other than the location, I couldn’t fault it and we knew what the location was before we booked. I would definitely recommend it to other families as long as they don’t mind the walk.

"Overall pretty good and no complaints"

As a hotel it’s not out of bounds to anyone and serves its purpose pretty well, I’d recommend it to anyone really! The hotel was absolutely fine, nicely placed on the edge of the town (but it’s not a very big town so this wasn’t a problem) and about a five minute walk to the slopes. Inside, everything was clean and tidy and run by really nice people – the place isn’t exceptional but then I didn’t expect it to be. We had a half board package and the food was nice, a good range of different things with dishes like burgers and pastas – not the best in the world but good enough.
