Avenue Lodge, located in the main street, is built in contemporary savoyard chalet style with black slate floors and cowhide chairs. The rooms are more cutting edge in design than in any other resort hotel. It also has an impressive pool and spa. (From: Telegraph Ski and Snowboard, 23/07/14) + more

Overview: hotel description: Hotel Avenue Lodge description

Set in the heart of Val d’Isère, the Avenue Lodge is a fantastic hotel in a great location. The interior combines a contemporary feel with a mountain feel. We offer the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis with option to upgrade to half board, so you can enjoy traditional French cuisine in a lovely atmosphere. The impressive spa provides a relaxing environment to unwind with an indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Or enjoy a post ski drink in the stylish bar and lounge area.

Alpine style

The charming Avenue Lodge has the classic style of the Tarentaise region. The hotel's architecture and interior design were influenced by the work of Jean Philippe Nuel, who creates luxurious spaces across the globe. The colours and the furniture in each area work together to create a sense of harmony and design. The mountain's ever-present presence is brought to life by the use of local materials with warm wood throughout, fur bedspreads and antlers adorning the walls. The spacious rooms offer a pleasantly trendy environment, and the luxurious design of the baths create a space for pure relaxation.

Food and drink

Each morning you can fuel up for the day with the extensive buffet breakfast, including a continental offering with local produce and daily hot option. For a relaxing start to the day,a continental breakfast is also available to have in your room. When you have returned from a day on the Tignes-Val d'Isere slopes, the lounge-bar is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink with friends or family, each Friday live music can be enjoyed with a cocktail or two. When it's time for dinner, a traditional French menu awaits you.

Soothing spa

The hotel features a magnificent spa which you can relax in after a long day of skiing or on days when they simply don't feel like hitting the slopes. Take a refreshing swim in the pool, or visit one of the two saunas or the hammam to ease any aches or pains in your legs. In addition to that, there are two jacuzzies that are wonderful for unwinding and relaxing in. Massages and other beauty treatments are offered so you can thoroughly unwind in a tranquil setting.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"Exceptional"

Mrs Wright, Devon

Every part of our stay here was exceptional – we had an amazing week and I would highly recommend staying here! We stayed in a standard room which had really nice décor and was cleaned every day. Amazing facilities – we enjoyed the Jacuzzi, swimming pool and sauna in the spa. Perfect location, right in the middle of town. Food was really good. The best thing was the service: they wouldn’t let you carry your skis anywhere and if you were taking your boots off they’d be straight there with a pair of slippers.
