Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

"I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the Hotel Arlberg! "

Jane

Beautiful! It had big rooms, big bathrooms, very clean, just really nice. We used the pool and the facilities because the weather wasn’t very good the week that we were there, so it was quite nice to have the pool and the jacuzzi when we were there. The staff were really good and they’ve been there a long time, which makes you think it must be a good hotel to work for. The food was ABSOLUTELY excellent! It really was very good quality and lots of variety. A lot of it was buffet style and if I remember rightly, the dinner was 5-courses. Again, it was just absolutely excellent. Location wise, not too bad. Just out of the sort of centre part, so it was quite quiet. We either walked or we caught the bus to the slopes. The bus goes from straight outside the hotel and it runs every 20mins, I think it goes (either way). It goes down to the bottom lift or up to the one in the main town.

"Holiday was very good !"

Better than our expectations! We had excellent weather, great snow and we all had a great time. We’d definitely go back and thought it was a 10/10 trip. The food and catering was very good, apart from the occasional dodgy mousse which they served, but other than that it was very good. The meals were 5-course dinners with the first course generally a soup and the second course would be a mousse of some kind (like beetroot) but in general it was all very good. It was a short walk in the morning or a very easily accessed bus directly outside the hotel to get to the skiing. It was probably about 250yards or a free shuttle bus directly outside, so it was very good!

"Would recommend to other families"

We liked it – it’s got a good location very near the town centre but far enough away that it wasn’t noisy. The staff were really friendly and the food was very nice. The interior was a little dated to be frank, it’s not a ‘funked up’ place or ultra modern and everything is very traditional. We had a 3 bedded room with a double and a pull out sofa, the bathroom was a little tired but the space was fine - when you’re skiing you always have a lot of clobber! I’d definitely recommend the Arlberg to other families; they were very good with us.
