Overview: hotel description: Grand Hotel des Thermes description

A central position in Brides les Bains makes Grand Hotel des Thermes a super convenient choice for both skiing and getting around town. The Olympe gondola’s your ticket for heading higher up the mountain towards Méribel and the 3 Valleys ski area – so you’ll naturally want to be stationed close by for an easy start and quicker access to the slopes. At an 8-minute amble, Thermes can offer you a pretty laid-back start to your day and, come evening, you’ll find there are plenty of bars and restaurants en route for your après needs.

Speaking of post-ski needs, a swim and a steam when you’re back from the pistes always hits the spot. Mansard is the name of the hotel’s spa and thankfully, they’ve got you covered – so feel free to pop by for a dip and a spell in the sauna before kicking off your evenings. If you really want to treat yourself, there are a few massages and treatments available too, if you don’t mind paying extra.

Design-wise, the hotel’s gone with a 1930’s art deco-inspired look. Black and white tiled floors, tasteful alcoves and some grand-ish columns in reception make a big first impression and really set the mood. When it comes to the rooms and restaurant though, you’ll find some contemporary touches have been added to the mix – the result, a pretty smart look with a hint of retro and plenty of comfort.

The petite, attractive village of Brides Les Bains sits just down from Meribel in the lovely Allues Valley. If you’d like to avoid the touristic nature of usual ski resorts and try somewhere more cultural then you’ll be happy to know that the village has stayed true to its roots with a very French look and feel. Natural thermal waters occurring in the valley resulted in the village becoming a hotspot for health and spa treatments since the early nineteenth century. There is an amazing Grand Spa to be found w...
With direct access into Meribel of the 3 Valleys, the world’s largest linked ski area needs little introduction. Careening pistes for all ages and abilities are available across this gigantic landscape. Beginners can practice in the ‘ZEN Zones’. The greens above Altiport are reachable straight from a nearby gondola once you arrive in Meribel, situated in a peaceful area for learning at a comfortable pace. Children and adults can find some excellent ski schools available to get going on learner-friendly sect...
There is a small selection of bars here but aprés ski is generally better suited to those who are happy to return back to base and unwind with a quiet sherry - don’t expect to find many booming après bars. However, since Brides Les Bains is lower down in the mountains, the drinks tend to be cheaper. Most noteworthy for an evening of entertainment is the local casino. Found within is the Blue Night club, open until late featuring karaoke and disco nights. Groups looking to quench their après thirst might c...
