· peaceful location above the town · 3 minutes' walk to the Schmittenhöhe cable car · 3 minutes' walk to the Fallegglift and the nursery slopes · 25 minutes' downhill walk to the resort centre · 35-40 minutes' walk back up to the hotel
Family-run for generations, the Daxer has traditional Austrian hospitality down to a T, and it really feels like you’re staying with friends. Location-wise, it's in a peaceful spot just metres from the pistes, and you can walk to the cable car in around three minutes too.
A shingle-clad roof, big wooden balconies and whitewashed walls give the place an authentic look on the outside. Step inside, and things are light and bright, with mountain-inspired prints and tartan patterned furniture dotted throughout. And in the spa are big windows, so you can stretch out in the sauna or swim a few lengths in the pool while you watch the flakes fall outside.
When it’s time to eat, the Daxer’s restaurant definitely steps up to the plate. Tuck into a huge breakfast buffet packed with eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal and lots of fresh bread. And when you're finished on the slopes, drop off your gear and grab a few tasty treats from the afternoon tea. Then to round off the day, there’s a 5-course dinner where you’ve got a choice of four different mains, with a different fish, meat and veggie option each night.
