· 10 minutes' walk from the centre of resort · ski bus stop outside · 15 minutes' bus ride from Mount Norquay, 25 minutes from Sunshine and 45 minutes from Lake Louise
The Fox Hotel & Suites is a charming and rustic property just outside of downtown Banff with stress-free access to the mountains via a complimentary ski bus. The mountain-lodge styling is obvious inside and out, from the stone and red-wood façade to the patterned wallpaper that features moose, bears and more specifically, foxes - it is called the Fox Hotel & Suites, after all.
The fox theme is carried through every corner of the hotel, including the lighting fixtures and in the lobby where you'll find a small fox statue perched on a coffee table. The rest of the interiors are warm and welcoming, from the leather sofas and chairs to the dark wooden furnishings.
The rooms, whether you're in a traditional hotel room or a suite, are spacious and comfortable - the beds are Mountain Luxury beds, ensuring you have a deep and restful night's sleep. The suites also have living rooms and kitchen 'nooks' which are perfect for storing snacks and drinks for a movie night or two.
Breakfast, the most important meal of the day, is complimentary and offers a variety of fresh pastries, fruits and toast, as well as a self-serve waffle machine - you wouldn't be in Canada if there weren't waffles. Lunch and dinner isn't included, but if the 10-minute walk into town seems like a chore, then the on-site tex-mex restaurant, Chili's, is the perfect choice. They serve up classics like burgers and ribs, as well as favourites like quesadillas and fajitas. Wash your food down with a homemade margarita from the Margarita bar and then sit back and watch some ice-hockey on the 60" plasma screen. It couldn't be more relaxing.
If that wasn't enough, the hotel houses a unique and ambient Cave & Basin-themed hot pool, based on the original cave found in the 19th century. And as it's only half covered, if you look up, there are wonderful views of the sky above. Once you're done in the pool you can also take advantage of the dry sauna and fitness room. If your muscles still ache after all that, you can head to the Red Earth Spa at the neighbouring Banff Caribou Lodge for a massage - you can charge all your treatments straight back to your room at the Fox Hotel & Suites.
Lastly, the hotel pride themselves on the little extras they offer, so when you want to head to downtown Banff for some food, drinks or shopping, you can hop on a Roam bus into town for free, all courtesy of the hotel.
