On arrival, we were disappointed to find the Chalet looking rather like a building site with half finished extensions of drab concrete! Overview: chalet description: Chalet St Moritz description

Whilst the other St Moritz may be the traditional home to the rich and famous, in our Chalet St Moritz you can still live the highlife. Here you look down on the village and valley below from the balcony of this gorgeous chocolate box chalet. The open-plan living/dining area is full of alpine character with a feature fireplace to relax in front of and all the bedrooms benefit from en suite facilities. La Plagne is named ‘the paradise resort’ with fantastic skiing on offer, but after you have experienced the sauna and enjoyed the phenomenal views in this property, we warn you, you may struggle to leave!

Please note:

  • The hillside location of this chalet means access is via steps which can be snowy so suitable footwear and easy to carry bags are recommended.
  • For the 2020/21 ski season Chalet St Moritz is now back in our catered chalet programme and will receive the catered chalet service. This means rooms will also be bookable on an individual basis.

In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

"Chalet St Moritz - La Plagne 1800"

On arrival, we were disappointed to find the Chalet looking rather like a building site with half finished extensions of drab concrete! However, the Chalet internally was very comfortable and cosy with a good layout and enough room for 8 skiers. The downstairs bedrooms were a good size as were the upstairs but the latter had sloping roofs in the bathrooms, which meant if you were more than 5' 3" tall you hit your head on the sloping beams! The Chalet was ski in down an easy 100m track of the nearest piste - great! The Chalet staff (Antonia+ Robin occasionally) were excellent as was the food and wine. The rep (Ben) who looked after our chalet and 4 others was superb and extremely helpful in all aspects. Overall, a very good Chalet let down by external appearances and limited headroom in the upper bathrooms. I would, however, book it again.

The location is perfect/ The chalet is in all honesty a little basic and tired and could do with some updating. Chalet host Antonia was fabulous! Perfect attitude, great great chef, and generally became part of the family. Ben also couldn't do enough for us, helpful and when I returned to the chalet after a huge snow dump to see him clearing the snow on his day off, says it all. Would we go back, yes definitely. We had a fab holiday.

We stayed in the Chalet St. Moritz for a week at the beginning of January. The weather couldn't be better at that time of year, with great snow and warm sun. The chalet was the perfect place to return to at the end of each day, and the positioning was really good - if you were adventurous you could actually board to within a few feet of the chalet itself, but if not, it was only a 5 minute walk from the bottom of the piste. Our host for the week was a really nice guy - great food, service and company - you can't ask for more, and the chalet itself was well sized for 8 people. I would definitely return. There was a bar within a brief walking distance, but it was very busy inside, so we walked down the road for 5 minutes where there's a much bigger bar with a lot more seating. This was the first time to that part of La Plagne, and it won't be the last.

We really liked the chalet, my partner and I shared the chalet with 2 other couples and a group of 3 and everyone got on really well, we were all skiing together by the end of the week. The position was great and you could ski to the door (probably not if you're a beginner). Our room was fine, there was a lovely lounge where we all chilled out and we really liked the sauna! I’d say it’s good for couples if you like socialising like us, but if you want alone time not so much. We went out for a meal one night somewhere in the main area, it was in the main building where loads of the apartments are but I can’t remember the name – traditional place with good tartiflette etc - the host recommended it to us (really nice guy - good fun).

Overlooking this glorious resort, the luxury facilities help you snuggle into dreamy evenings with friends or family expertly catered by your chalet host, as you watch this resort come to life from the lofted position of this chalet. When you head out, the 300 yard walk to the village centre and ski area gets the blood flowing in the stunning Paradiski scenery. The adrenaline flows as you reach the hill already warmed up, and that last leg back at the end of the day works up an appetite for the hearty home cooked supper.
