Brilliant! No bad bits to be honest! We had really good people who did us vegetarian fare every night which was good. The location couldn’t be better, we were 100 yards from the slopes and right by the Vanoise Express so whether we wanted to go to Les Arcs or La Plagne it was absolutely perfect. I just wanted to say that we had a fab time in Chalet Sermoz last week. The chalet was lovely, very spacious, clean, warm and comfortable and well situated. The chalet couple were without a doubt the best ski hosts we’ve ever had (and we’ve stayed in a lot of catered chalets)! Nothing was a bother to them. Th... + more

Location: where is Chalet Sermoz

Chalet Sermoz is located in Peisey-Vallandry (Plan Peisey), almost next to the Vanoise Express cable car which links the two resorts of La Plagne and Les Arcs and also very close the “Le Peisey” high-speed 6 man chairlift taking you up into the main areas of Les Arcs. This chairlift takes you directly to the top of a beginner’s area and also gives access to blue, red and black runs descending back down to Plan Peisey. We've been told numerous times that our photos don't do the chalet justice - however, it's location makes it almost impossible to take a good picture without renting a helicopter for the day! You will just have to come and see this beautiful catered chalet for yourselves! The chalet is perfectly located to be able to make the most of the whole Paradiski area with such easy access to either side of the link, plus easy access to pistes for all levels. It is also close to the village centre with it’s choice of bars, shops and restaurants.

Les Arcs came to be in 1968 after a group of ski instructors and architects dreamt up a resort with all the perks of a village but a mountainside location. It grew into one of the largest, most incredible ski areas in the Alps. The closest airport is Chambery with a transfer time of a couple of hours, plus transport links from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble. Present-day Les Arcs consists of four main purpose built villages. The original resort, Arc 1600, was created for doorstep skiing and is linked by a funicular ...
As you'd expect from one of the biggest ski areas on the planet, there's everything from gorgeous tree-lined runs to wild, white-knuckle off-piste. For beginners, each of the 3 main Arcs has 'ski tranquille' zone, and the wide beginner runs leading to the resort have gentle gradients perfect for practising. Local instructors are on hand to show you the ropes, with ski schools based in each of the main villages (1800 has the most). There are magic carpet lifts at 1800 and 2000 - an easy way for newbies to get up ...
If you're looking for a party, Arc 1800 is the place to be. With heaps of watering holes like the Red Hot Saloon (or the 'Red Bar' to use local lingo), Benji's and La Folie Douce. If you're looking for more of a French-style après spot, Ambiente Cafe has a really cool atmosphere and lots of nice cocktails (happy hour usually starts at 4) while Le club 1950 your venue if you're looking to party into the wee hours. Arc 1600's a little quieter but for good music and a scenic terrace check out Les 2 Têtes. In te...

Brilliant! No bad bits to be honest! We had really good people who did us vegetarian fare every night which was good. The location couldn’t be better, we were 100 yards from the slopes and right by the Vanoise Express so whether we wanted to go to Les Arcs or La Plagne it was absolutely perfect. The only downside was that our room (first floor triple) was next door to the main living and dining area. If we didn’t want to wake at 6:15 the clattering of pots and pans would have been a problem, but as it was we didn’t mind too much. It was really good the way that they met us and picked us up from the station, which meant that we got an extra day of skiing on the Saturday. I would definitely recommend getting the train. Despite a slight delay at St Pancras, frankly once we were on the train it couldn’t have been easier. I basically trained it to London, got on, read, slept and then we were there. There were 12 other people in the chalet and none of them had had a decent journey apart from us.

They were so helpful and friendly, and the food they cooked was amazing – it put me to shame! The calibre of the hosts really does make a difference to the holiday. The driver had to take a detour in the mini bus on the way to the airport due to traffic problems and because of this he managed to get us to the airport in time for our flight. All round it was a fab holiday.

We are all safely back home now (bar two who are stopping with relatives near Geneva till Thursday) after all flights from Geneva to the UK were cancelled on the Saturday evening - with the ensuing inconvenience that that caused (mild understatement!!!!).... a very quick comment to say a huge thank you to you personally and to all your staff - especially the chalet couples at Sermoz and Belle Vue. Everybody spoke very highly of them and how well they hosted all of us . A great credit to them all for their efforts and endeavours in looking after a group of 27 people. The group's immediate feedback is that they were delighted with the holiday arrangements and are already talking about 2014. I know that this year's planning was very individually tailored due to the circumstances ... . Once again a huge thank you.
