The chalet was lovely. There are always some aspects that can be improved but everyone staying there that week got on so well, which was excellent (especially considering the weather was awful which meant we spent a lot of time in the chalet!). Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

"Loved my first chalet holiday"

Robert
5/ out of 5
I’d never done a catered chalet holiday before I stayed in the Schlosskopf but I definitely will again – it was really good! The host was fantastic (I think her name was Ruth) and she cooked something different every night as well as having tea and cakes at 4ish. We went there the last week of the season and I think they wanted to use up the stock as they gave us a lot of wine! Our room was perfectly fine with a lovely en suite bathroom. There were three of us sleeping in one room and it was big enough for everyone. It’s a bit of a walk down the hill, about 10 minutes or maybe less. Of course it seemed a bit longer on the way back up as you’re going uphill. There is a bus if you want to wait and catch that – the bus stop is about 20 yards from the chalet.

The chalet was lovely. There are always some aspects that can be improved but everyone staying there that week got on so well, which was excellent (especially considering the weather was awful which meant we spent a lot of time in the chalet!). There’s a mezzanine-lounge area where the kids set up camp and played – they loved it. Our rooms were fine, the only things they lacked were hooks so we didn’t have anywhere to hang our jackets apart from the balcony (and because of the weather that wasn’t feasible). The food was lovely and there were some great options available. There was almost too much food with four courses every evening! My son didn’t choose to eat earlier but the kids who did seemed to be happy with their meals – if they wanted a different sauce for example it wasn’t a problem. On the chalet host’s night off we thought we would try somewhere local so just went down the road on the chalet to the most gorgeous pizza restaurant, it was almost tucked away as part of a hotel. I don’t think you’d be able to ski back to the chalet even with a massive amount of snow, but in about 5-10 minutes you could walk down to the nearest slope. We used a ski hire place just about 100 yards from the slope where we could pay to leave our skis and boots – if we'd had to walk in ski boots with equipment it would have been a lot trickier. There are 3 Intersport shops in resort: one in our bit of St Anton, one by the big lift and a diddy one 100 yards further on. We ended up using the small one which turned out to be a great choice because everyone else seemed to use the others – quick, helpful service and no queuing!

Lounging and comfort of the highest order in this beautiful chalet. Each bedroom is en-suite (double check) and a couple with balconies, while the living area is open plan and inviting with sofas and a fireplace, connected to a magnificent terrace with commanding views over the town of St Anton. For this sort of luxury and privacy, you’re a little further out of town, with the bus stop 110 yards from the door, and the journey taking five minutes to the lift area, or a further five minutes to the lift area, and a further five minutes to the village centre. With this level of homely comfort, the journey is not a concession we worry about.
