Overview: chalet description: Chalet Renard Bleu description

Few chalets can boast the same facilities as our Chalet Renard Bleu in Les 2 Alpes. Through the double French windows and on to a decked sun terrace is an outdoor plunge-pool which has an attractive glass cover so you can look at the stars whilst soaking in the warm water. There is also a sauna in the chalet and the comfortable lounge/dining area has a lovely feature fireplace with plenty of seating, a perfect place for relaxation and for enjoying your chalet meals in convivial company.

Both Chalet Renard Bleu and neighbouring Chalet Loup Blanc were built in the heart of Les 2 Alpes. The location is superb as it is just next to the popular Venosc Square with its many shops, bars and restaurants and few chalets have this combination of such fantastic accommodation and facilities in such an enviable location.

Designed to a high specification in a classic Alpine style, Chalet Renard Bleu has attractive facades of exposed stone and warm woods, coupled with fresh open-plan interiors furnished with contemporary flair. Each of the bedrooms is a good size with wooden floors, panelled walls and some exposed beams as well as smart modern shower rooms. Many of them also benefit from a balcony.

Guests will appreciate the chalets’ close proximity to the skiing and easy access to the resort centre. It’s just a 500m walk to the Diable 6 seater chairlift, a long but fast lift which swiftly carries skiers up to the Les Crêtes area and beyond. Alternatively take the Super Venosc chairlift, taking you to the Vallée Blanche ski area on the other side of the valley, which is now connected to the main ski area by the Côte blue run and the Petite Aiguille chairlift. The world’s fastest gondola, the Jandri Express, which delivers skiers to the glacier in only 7 minutes, is also an option for ski access each day.

A sauna on the ground floor of each chalet completes the sense of quality and style which our guests have come to expect from recent additions to our portfolio.

Meals: Chalet Renard Bleu food & drink

We set very high standards for our cuisine, and train our staff extensively before the season starts, to ensure that you will thoroughly enjoy every meal on your holiday with us. We also take our Health and Safety responsibilities extremely seriously, so all our chalet and Chalet Hotel staff involved in food preparation are trained to the City & Guilds qualification – Level 2 in Food Safety during the pre-season training course. There is a continental breakfast is every morning and a breakfast hot option, afternoon tea and evening dinners are provided for six days of the week in both chalets and Chalet Hotels.

Breakfast

A good breakfast is essential on a ski holiday, so we provide both a hot option, as well as a continental selection with a choice of cereals or porridge, fruit juices, plentiful tea, coffee and bread (and croissants in France), cold meats, cheese and preserves, which is normally presented buffet-style for you to help yourself. On our staff day off, only the continental breakfast will be provided.

Afternoon Tea

The traditional ‘welcome home’ after a day on the slopes will be laid out for you in your chalet or Chalet Hotel, ready for your return, every day except on the staff day off. A good cup of tea or coffee is the perfect accompaniment to a delicious slice of cake and keeps hungry skiers happy until dinner is ready.

Children's High Tea

In chalets and Chalet Hotels with family guests, High Tea provides children under 11 years with a healthy menu, tailored more towards children’s tastes and puréed food is available for infants on request. High Tea is at 5.30pm, and children do not join the main adult-only dinner.

Dinner in Chalets

In the evenings our hosts will cook you a three-course adult only meal six nights a week. This starts with a glass of prosecco followed by an appetiser, main course and dessert – with unlimited complimentary red, white and rosé wine during service! There is also an option for vegetarians, please warn us in advance.

One of these meals will be a regional meal with the menu depending on which country you are staying in.

On the staff one night off per week just a continental breakfast is provided and it’s a great opportunity for you to experience some local restaurants in your resort. Speak to your resort representative for recommendations and help with reservations.

Vegetarian and Special Diets

Vegetarian options are available in our properties – just advise us at time of bookings so that we can ensure that our staff can prepare. Other special diets can generally be catered for at a cost of £35 per person per week. Any dietary requirements must be advised to us at the time of booking in order for us to be fully prepared. Our Chalet Hosts will discuss your dietary requirements with you upon arrival to the chalet or Chalet Hotel.

Christmas and New Year

All of our chalets and Chalet Hotels will serve a traditional Christmas dinner with a glass of Champagne to start off the evening. This will include roast turkey with all of the trimmings, Christmas pudding, mince pies, crackers and party hats plus a fantastic Alpine atmosphere in which to enjoy the day.

A special festive menu will also be served on New Year’s Eve, alongside the added bonus that many resorts put on fantastic firework displays. A glass of fizz, whilst watching fireworks over the snow-capped peaks of the Alps.. what better way to bring in the New Year!

Our Quality Wines

We are very proud of our wine selection for chalets and Chalet Hotels, which combines crisp and fruity whites with medium to full-bodied reds, for a variety of palates. We select our wines in conjunction with our good friends Nicolas and Véronique – the third generation in the Perret family’s fine wine business based in the Savoie. Nicolas is a qualified wine expert, having trained at the prestigious Burgundy Wine University in Beaune. Each season in October, Nicolas & Véronique bring over a new selection for us to sample (someone has to do it!) and together we choose our wines for the coming season, based on our menus and their pure enjoyment factor. Wine is an incredibly subjective and emotive subject, however, the feedback we have received from our guests over recent seasons endorses our aims of providing wines to enhance your meal and to suit most tastes. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we do!

We update Chalet Renard Bleu's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Glacier Skiing Top après Lots of activities

Spectacular views of Mont Blanc aren’t the only bonus of the glacier - this ‘upside down’ ski resort is one of the most snow-sure in the Alps, so much so that you can ski here in the summertime. Much loved for its après ski, the town's main strip is bursting with some of the best bars in the mountains.

Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925 when the first ski tow was built. The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town when in reality the name stems from the two villages on either side of the settlement: Mont De Lans and Venosc. The resort is compact, and you’...
There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about Les Deux Alpes is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the ski escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. The run home at the end of the day used to have a fearsome reputation for being overcrowded...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in Les Deux Alpes. One of the best bars in resort is Pano bar, this slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m comes alive at happy hour between 3 pm and 5 pm every day with discounted drinks and a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as live entertainment on several night...

I was staying in the very similar chalet Loup Blanc just next door, but we had a good look around Chalet Renard Bleu. It's a little smaller, as it sleeps 12-14 guests, but it's just as beautiful as it's neighbour. The plunge pool and sauna are amazing after a days hard skiing and the open plan lounge and dining area is spacious and inviting. The mix of modern touches and traditional panelling and furnishings throughout give the chalet a really luxurious feel. It's a pleasure to come back to!

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! I wouldn’t change anything. The chalet is superb, the best we’ve stayed in! If we could go back again we’d have booked it already, but we have a bigger group next season. We’d definitely book it in the future though. The chalet is amazing; the whole place was so clean. Because it’s a new build we sort of imagined it would be out of town but it turns out the piece of land that they’d developed on used to be the tennis courts. So you’re in the hub of everything. They’ve been really beautifully done, someone’s taken great care making them – big chunky slate bathrooms, really nice touches, they didn’t scrimp on anything. The kitchen layout is really good, so it supports the hosts as well as the guests. The food was stunning! The hosts were absolutely exceptional. There was only one week left of the season after us, and they weren’t flagging at all. We absolutely loved how sociable the chalet was, lots of hosts were popping in and out – we had a jigsaw through the week and they’d come in and ask if they could do a piece. Something that was really useful is that several other companies came in and gave us a sales pitch. One was a local guide who told us all about which pistes to ski for our levels; we didn’t book him but the advice was great. Another was a local sports physio – three of our friends booked massages and loved them. I don’t think anyone would have thought of booking a physio massage had they not come to see us, but it was great. Location was great, like anything once you know your way around it’s a lot easier. The chalet is in between two bus stops, but we then worked out that actually if you just walk to one of the bus stops you can ski down if there’s enough snow. There’s an outdoor plunge pool (cold, don’t expect a hot tub!) which we enjoyed. The balance of having our own sauna and plunge pool was fantastic. There’s also a big outdoor seating area which went down really well.

Right next door to Chalet Loup Blanc this newly modernised property boast luxury and tip top service all in one package. With the sun facing terrace coming off the main lounge area you enjoy relaxing in the afternoon and the proximity to the main attractions makes it easy to enjoy all that there is to offer in one of the top French resorts. It's only minutes walk away from the lifts and resort village where you can get amongst it all, and that's also a big part of why this an often recommended catered option.
