Great venue. The chalet is in a brilliant position, right by the lift. It’s classified as ski in / ski out, and there is a green run outside, but it’s so flat really you need to walk for a minute or two to get to the lift, unless you manage to get enough speed up somehow. There is also a black run you can ski... + more

Location: where is Chalet Pierra Menta 2

At the bottom of la Plagne 1800, Chalet Pierra Menta 2 is just 100m from the Plagne 1800 chairlift which takes you out of the village up towards Plagne Aime 2000. From here you can ski directly back to Chalet Pierra Menta via the black Crete-cote run, alternatively you can ski back from Plagne Centre via the red "Les Mines" piste or blue "Jean-Marie" or "Lovatiere". The chalet is a 10 minute walk from the village centre.

Chalet Pierra Menta is perfect for families, because there is a wonderful space outside for adults & children to build snowmen, have snowball fights, and make snow angels.

The "Chaperon Rouge" restaurant is a short walk across the piste, this is a cosy mountain restaurant with a roaring fire.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Pierra Menta 2 description

Chalets Pierra Menta 1 and 2 in la Plagne 1800 were built and are fitted out to a high standard.

The open plan living and dining area of Chalet Pierra Menta 2 is on the top floor and has large picture windows with amazing views to the Pierra Menta peak the other side of the valley and all the way to Mont Blanc, 25 miles away. There are two balconies; one is east facing to take advantage of the morning sunshine and the other is west facing with views of the adjacent pistes of la Plagne. There is plenty of comfortable seating and a log burning fire. Chalet Pierra Menta 2 has seven bedrooms all with full en-suite facilities. The chalet has a sauna and its own ski and boot deposits with boot warmers. Additionally, the Pierra Menta chalets have been built to high ecological standards: amongst other features they will benefit from eco-friendly zero emission bio-mass heating systems and the use of melted snow for providing water where untreated water can be used.

Chalet Pierra Menta 2 can not take infants.

In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

The chalet was really nice, we stayed here as a big group and everyone was totally happy. It was nice to have the top floor bit where everyone had space to do whatever they wanted in the evenings. The bedrooms were comfortable with enough room for everything. Food was fine, what you’d expect from a chalet in France. They were very flexible so if the younger children wanted something different it wouldn’t be a problem. The hosts were very good. To get to the skiing the younger people could take the bus and we could walk over to the lift station to take the lift up.

"Very happy. Want to rebook for next year"

Great venue. The chalet is in a brilliant position, right by the lift. It’s classified as ski in / ski out, and there is a green run outside, but it’s so flat really you need to walk for a minute or two to get to the lift, unless you manage to get enough speed up somehow. There is also a black run you can ski down from the chalet, but I didn’t attempt this! Our chalet hosts were very nice and very helpful. The food was good quality, although the portions weren’t big. We felt that breakfast was a bit stingy and the evening meals were also sometimes quite small. They were 3 courses, a starter of soup or salad or similar, then a main of veg and meat or fish, and there was a veggie option too. One of our group is quite a picky eater and she didn’t like everything, so what the hosts did for her was to ask her in the morning what she wanted that evening and then try and accommodate to her taste, but she wasn’t as keen on some of the dishes. I liked the food though. We were very happy with the staff. They were very professional. I plan to rebook the same chalet for next year.
