Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

"Get a ski locker & location's fine"

The Mooserwirt is a nice chalet, the best thing about our stay was the overall quality of the place. We had a lovely bedroom. Food was excellent. You don’t get ski in, ski out properties in St Anton, this one is about a 10 minute walk in the mornings, then you get the bus back later on. The key thing is using a ski locker near to the slopes/lifts so you don’t have to carry everything about. Weather was middling in St Anton while we were here, overall it was fine and we still had a good week.
