Location: where is Chalet Machapuchare

In the Le Crêt area of Val d'Isère. A 3 minute chauffeured minibus ride from the centre of Val d'Isère, 2 minutes from the lifts at La Daille, or 5 minutes from l'Olympique or Solaise Express.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Machapuchare description

Nestled in the exclusive and wonderfully private area of Le Crêt, Chalet Machapuchare commands uninterrupted views of the entire valley, from the rocky cliffs above La Daille across pretty Val d'Isère to the glaciers and snowcapped peaks beyond. The pistes, shops and nightlife are just a three-minute chauffeured minibus drive away.

Completed in 2018, the chalet sleeps 14-15 guests in 7 en-suite bedrooms plus an additional children's bunk room. The attention to detail throughout the chalet is one of its highlights, with a focus on natural materials such as wood, stone, wool, metal and leather. Many of the pieces have been handcrafted by the owner or are repurposed from traditional local objects, such as a coffee table fashioned from an old-fashioned cider press, or light fittings made from wooden Beaufort cheese casings.

The focal point of the chalet is its dramatic double height sitting room, with enormous windows affording panoramas of the surrounding peaks. The cleverly designed space comprises ample seating on large comfortable sofas, a generous dining area, a well-stocked bar, reading and games corners on the mezzanine and wraparound balconies giving access to the hot tub, which is blessed with arguably the best views in the valley.

The chalet's other spa facilities include a stunning indoor swimming pool with a waterfall and counter current system, hammam, massage area, and well-equipped gym. Next door is the sound-proofed cinema room with tiered seating, completing the round-up of superb facilities that make Machapuchare an exceptional luxury retreat in Val d'Isère.

Meals: Chalet Machapuchare food & drink

We truly aim to deliver the best food in the Alps and succeed in this - we were the overall winners of The Times Chalet Chef 2010 award and so our food has been independently rated as the best in the Alps, but our standards have improved hugely even since then and our reputation in the ski chalet industry is unparalleled. As a result, we are able to attract extraordinary chefs, passionate about food and about delighting you!

Beautiful food deserves only the finest wine, which is why our wine list is composed by the acclaimed Master of Wine and owner of Savage Selection wines, Mark Savage. Mark brings interesting, small production wines to the table, all deeply characteristic of their origin and beautifully paired with our food.

We update Chalet Machapuchare's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...
