Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"Chalet Laetitia"

Donna Hodgson

The chalet is in a great location - beautifully quiet with the free ski bus stop at the end of the road, but also only 5 mins walk from the village centre. Starting in the basement - the ski room with heated boot storage opened directly to the outside where Rob the Prestige driver picked us up from and brought us back to, each day. The sauna and fitness area was here too. Up one level again was the huge cinema room (to be used with DVDs brought out by us guests) and up again was the lounge with comfy settees and fab log fire, dining area and kitchen, and hot tub on the terrace. Bedrooms were on 3 different levels, and were small, but with good ensuite facilities - ours had a jacuzzi bath, most had showers. The only complaint from everyone was the lack of hanging space for clothes. The chalet provider advertise Laetitia as a '5* Signature Chalet' and this status was achieved through the efforts of the Chalet Hosts. Imo and Becca did a fab job, from tea in bed, all-you-could-eat breakfasts comprising cereal, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, bread and jam and cooked options, scrupulously cleaned rooms, tasty afternoon teas left out daily, and ... the evening meals... Canapes and aperitifs, then everyone sitting down to beautiful starters, tasty mains, elegant desserts, ( all with unlimited wine) then bread and cheese and port, topped off with coffee and chocolates. We never finished all that was offered or left the table hungry! Our week was made up of separate couples and families, but the chalet lends itself to being booked by 1 large group. Andy - the resort rep was available to give advice on apres-ski activities, though some didn't happen the week we were there. Thank you Imo, Becca, Andy and Rob for a great week :)

"Our best ever chalet holiday - Amazing."

Imo and Becca were exceptional Chalet hosts. The catering was delicious and varied, always delivered with a smile. The girls were delightful and so organised. We felt really spoilt by them, nothing was too much trouble yet they created a really relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed the extras....Hot tub, sauna and cinema room. All in all a fantastic holiday. We wouldn't hesitate to return to, or to recommend a chalet that Imo and Becca were hosting!

This is what baby chalets dream of becoming when they grow into swanlike adult chalets - space, seclusion, views, luxury and comfort - as well as good access to the piste and après ski. Not only does it have fitness, spa and entertainment facilities, as well as en-suite bedrooms throughout; but it is big and spacious, and has some of the best views overlooking the village from this beautiful cul-de-sac. Take the bus (stopping 300m away) to the lift area or the town centre; and for the real adventurers, off-piste skiing is possible to within less than 100ft of your doorstep.
