Location: where is Chalet La Chapelle

As one of the five chalets in Le Village, Chalet La Chapelle benefits from an enviable location in the wonderful resort of Alpe d'Huez. The chalet looks out over an attractive cobbled courtyard on one side and the Rond Point des pistes the other, with two pistes on either side of the chalet, it's the dream ski in ski out location. The town centre is a pleasant 10 minutes' walk away, where you'll find a vibrant resort, with plenty of great bars, restaurants and shopping, plus an outdoor ice rink and swimming pool. If you don't fancy the walk into town, then take the aerial route as the nearby caged gondola lift can transport you to different parts of the resort.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet La Chapelle description

La Chapelle is one of our largest chalets in Le Village, with seven comfortable en-suite bedrooms which can accommodate up to fourteen guests. The interior of the chalet is attractively finished, with stone and timber walls in fitting with classic alpine architecture, plus high vaulted ceilings, a roaring fireplace and wonderful spa facilities for a bit of added luxury.

Entrance to the chalet is on the ground floor, with a spacious ski and boot room upon entering, providing a lovely space to keep all your equipment safe, warm and dry. There is a downstairs WC just next to the staircase as well as an indoor spa area, complete with sauna and Jacuzzi what better way to unwind after a tiring day on the ski slopes!

There are five twin bedrooms (200 x 90 cm) and two double bedrooms (160 x 200cm), on the ground floor both bedrooms are twin and with en-suite bathrooms and balcony. There is just one bedroom on the first floor, it's a twin with en-suite bathroom and balcony. On the second floor you will find two twins, each with en-suite bathroom and balcony, plus a very spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room and balcony. The final bedroom on the third floor is arguably the pick of the bunch, with huge amounts of space and lovely vaulted ceilings in the eaves of the building, plus an en-suite bathroom and balcony overlooking the courtyard and Les Bergers pistes beyond.

On the first floor you'll find the large and fully equipped kitchen, complete an oven, four-ring induction hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, Senseo machine and coffee percolator, so you'll have everything required to rustle up a stunning meal for your friends and family.

The kitchen sits next to the open plan living and dining space which has a beautiful stone fireplace as the focal point of the room. The fire is surrounded by a lovely corner sofa area, providing a lovely space in which to relax in front of the flat screen television, or enjoy a game of cards with friends and family. The dining room is spacious, with a lovely solid wooden dining table with ample sating for all guests to fit around.

There is free WIFI throughout the chalet, so whether you need to do some work whilst away, or just fancy streaming your favourite show, you'll be well looked after. For those driving to the resort, there is underground covered parking available.

Premium Contactless Catering Service

Your chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready and fridges stocked*, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won't see us. We'll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact, unless you need it. We will visit your chalet mid-week to give it a full clean and change of towels and bed-linen, but this shall be done during the day, whilst you're out on the slopes. You and your family will be safe and looked-after, as we work in the background, providing everything you need.

Our contactless catering service comes with the choice of two pricing options, a fixed menu with food and drink included in the price, and our à la carte option which allows you greater flexibility to eat and drink whatever you desire and the cost of the food is on supplement, at cost price, and depending on what produce you choose to order.

For those looking for a simple packaged chalet price, we are offering an all-inclusive price, which includes rental of the chalet and your food and drink for the week. Included will be breakfast, snacks to take with you skiing, afternoon tea and cakes/snacks, pre-dinner nibbles a three course dinner on 6 out of 7 nights, with a selection of after dinner cheeses, plus champagne for your first night, a kir for before dinner and unlimited wine and some beers. We have prepared a delicious menu for the week, with a mix of ready prepared meals from a local delicatessen and easy to cook dishes or sides. All that will be required from you is to pop a few things in the oven and throw together a few ingredients to make a simple salad, or steam a few vegetables as sides to your main meal.

Perhaps you want the freedom to choose your own menus, or perhaps you'd prefer to eat out more than one evening during the week, or you just love to cook yourself and enjoy the holidays where you have time to do this in a relaxed way. That's where our à la carte contactless catering service comes in. As an alternative to the service detailed above, we will also offer a lower rate, which does not include the food and drink for the week and we will give you the opportunity to order the food and drink of your choice, at the local hypermarket rates, and bill you for this afterwards. Four days before arrival, you will receive a comprehensive provisions list with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. That might be oven-ready meals, or the ingredients you'll need for Bolognaise, Soufflés or Cheese Fondues. Dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat or fish, beers, wines, champagne, whatever, all bought for you and stocked in advance.

Our aim is to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst staying as affordable as possible. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, we are able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed at the time of booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.

**Please note that for the à la carte option, all food, drink, ski hire and lift passes come at additional costs and are not included in the chalet price. Provisions will be billed at cost price and can be ordered from the list that will be sent out to you, and ski hire and lift passes can be booked in advance with our preferential rates. For our fixed menu option, the price does not include ski hire and lift passes, but it does include breakfast and afternoon tea for 7 days, plus a 3-course dinner with beer and wine for 6 days.

We update Chalet La Chapelle's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

This accommodation only holiday to Chalet La Chapelle in Alpe d'Huez, France departs Saturday 25th January 2025, for a 7 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d'Huez is very accessible from Grenoble or Chambery airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain. It is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as "...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936, and with the culmination of around 20 Million Euros of improvements due to come to fruition for 2021, there is a huge ski area to be explored. With a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers. There are plenty of wide-open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the bl...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe. It combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithy’s has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex food to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France, O’Sharkey’s is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’Huez has all of the usual culinary delights you’d expect in the mountains. To sample some traditional French food, ...

Their hosting skills were second to none and their attentive nature has really made our week. I really can't praise these two enough and if I could have each break this way then I'd pay over the odds each time. The only down side I can say is that I don't say the chalet is ski to door as such, there is still a 20metre walk:( all things considered 10/10
