Overview: chalet description: Chalet L'Ancolie description

The Chalet L'Ancolie is a traditional and characterful property set in a quiet location back from the main street. The owner is an expert carpenter and he has done most of the interior wood panelling himself, ensuring a high attention to detail with many delightful features. Chalet L'Ancolie is available to book exclusively as well as room by room.

Savoyard style

Set over three floors and decorated in a traditional Savoyard style with cosy, warm and welcoming furnishings you have all the comforts of home. The chalet has five bedrooms with wood panelling which really adds to the Alpine feel of the chalet, all bedrooms have en-suite facilities and a balcony or terrace with amazing views across the Meribel Valley.

After a day of exploring the Three Valleys relax in front of the fireplace with a coffee and some cake, where the comfy seating provides a haven to unwind. There's also a sauna on the ground floor so you can revitalise after a day on the mountain. The chalet also has a heated ski and boot room and a table football.

Good location

As the chalet is set back from the main street, you benefit from being in a peaceful and quiet location. A walk to the resort centre takes around ten minutes, if you fancy a stroll before or after dinner, where you can find a variety of shops, bars andrestaurants to keep you entertained.

Access to the slopes is easy, the bus stop for the free ski bus is just one minute's walk away (50m) and the bus runs throughout the day with additional services at peak times.

This package holiday to Chalet L'Ancolie in Meribel & Mottaret, France departs Saturday 14th December 2024, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2025 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"Excellent and already rebooked"

Bill S.
5/ out of 5
Chalet l’Ancolie was excellent, we have already booked it again for next year! The actual living area relative to the number of guests is big, with room for everyone to sit in complete comfort – which isn’t something you hear about in most chalets! The location is fine, with the minibus picking us up. The meals were very good. Our only complaint is that there was no room security as there are no keys for the doors and the safe had been permanently locked by previous guests. Overall, with no hesitations I would give it a 5/5.

"Lovely and spacious"

Rachael, Cumbria
4/ out of 5
Lovely chalet, really spacious and big with enough room in the bedrooms. Everyone really liked it! We had a very good cook who produced excellent evening meals, they were so nice we all wanted the recipes of what he’d made! He did nice cakes for afternoon tea, though we didn’t always make it back in time for them. When it came to getting around Meribel the location was good as you could walk everywhere. Only improvement would have been a hot tub!

"Mixed group in Meribel"

David, Aberdeen
4/ out of 5
The chalet itself was fine, and the chalet hosts were tremendous. The food was fine, though I’m not sure about the twiddly bits / hors-d'oeuvre which were built up as being special but weren’t really. They bothered to do a turkey on Christmas day though which was nice. Main feedback, and the thing that we didn’t like about it was the bus transfer. And we wouldn’t book it again if we couldn’t easily walk back within around 200 yards. We were a mixed group and it was all slightly uncoordinated in terms of buses. I suppose the journey itself took about 10 minutes, but waiting for the chalet bus in the mornings as a big group sometimes took 20 minutes. The village bus was totally useless – at the end of the ski day you would be waiting for 30 minutes to get on it. Then once you had scrambled on, you couldn’t get off at your stop because it was so packed!

"A cosy haven of peace after skiing"

One of our favourites because it’s situated in a lovely elevated position and with the added benefit of free transportation, giving this high quality chalet some of the best views of Meribel and the 3 valleys. This chalet benefits from the peace and quiet of being slightly elevated above the main drag and this is made even more enjoyable by the free shuttle service to the lifts and back. We love the friendly hosts and their higher quality of wines than is normal for chalet catering.
