We really enjoyed our holiday. The place was nice and clean. Really loved the stuff that they did in the evenings to keep everybody entertained. So yeah it was all good and the facilities were great as well. I’d say 4/5 overall as rooms were very small, but I know that’s standard for France.... + more

Really, really good! The food was excellent; we had half board with breakfast, afternoon tea and a 3 course dinner. The location is perfect, it took us a five minute walk to get to the lifts and the town as well. Facilities were really good. I would definitely recommend staying here! + more

Chalet Hotel L’Ecrin du Val Claret is situated a short walk from the centre of Claret village above Tignes Le Lac with easy access to all the village bars, restaurants and amenities. The chalet hotel is conveniently only a 10-minute walk or short bus ride to the 5 main lifts in Tignes Val Claret, making it an excellent choice for hitting the slopes, browsing the resort shops and enjoying stunning walks around the lake. The high snow-sure resort of Tignes, part of the combined Tignes and Val d’Isere ski area, offers over 300km of pistes, making it perfect for all levels of snow sports enthusiasts.

Families: Chalet Hotel L'Ecrin for children

4 months to 12 years

Chalet Hotel L'Ecrin is a popular hotel for families with the ski slopes 500m away. Childcare at the hotel is available for children from ages 1 to 12 years and must be pre-booked at an additional cost. From December 2019 we will also offer our Baby Club for ages 4 months plus.

The hotel crèche is colourful, fun and fully equipped with all the latest toys and books, cots, potties, bottle sterilisers and fridge.

There is a parents kitchen facility for late night feeds and a free evening childcare service if children are booked into day time clubs. Parents can relax over dinner for two or join a social table with fellow guests.


Ski school

We work very closely with Evolution 2 ski school in Tignes, who offer a range of ski schools from 2.5 years and upwards.

Children 4 years and above, who are booked into our children's clubs and the recommended ski school will be dropped off and collected from ski school by our childcare team and from there bought back to the hotel where we provide lunch and afternoon activities (or return to ski school) all supervised.

For children that are not skiing and are booked into the children's clubs then a mountain of fun and games both indoor and outdoor awaits daily.

Restaurant

The traditional Savoie style flows through to the restaurant and bar. Small and large group tables are available and guarantee a lively, fun atmosphere.

Inside the hotel, you’ll find a warm welcome from our friendly staff. They’ll serve you a full English or continental breakfast to set you up for the day, followed by an afternoon tea with plenty of cakes, juices and assorted teas to go round.

Evening dinner will be the perfect time to reflect on your day on the slopes and unwind. A high tea is available for children 12 years and under.

One evening a week dinner is not served in the chalet hotel allowing you the opportunity to dine out at one of the excellent local restaurants.

Bar

The traditional Savoie style continues to flow into the alluring bar and lounge at this chalet hotel. The warm charm of this spacious bar is a great place to gather with friends and fellow skiers to socialise.

While tucked away around the corner is a cosy lounge with a roaring open fireplace, sofas with plump cushions and snug armchairs. The ultimate chill-out spot after a hard day on the slopes.

You could get a bus but it was only a short walk to the slopes, only a few hundred metres. Not sure we would go back. But the value for money is good and it is worth it for the price. Tignes is great though, brilliant for apres!

We thought it was perfect, you just nip down and sit on the bus and then you’re soon at the top of the mountain at the highest points.

We had a great time, this is a really good chalet and I don’t really have any downsides. The choices of meals were great, there wasn’t a meal we didn’t like the sound of. The younger kid’s meals looked nice too. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The position of the chalet hotel is good as we could come out of the boot room straight onto the access road that brings you to the slopes. Directly opposite, 40 metres away, is where the shuttle bus pick up point is, and the drop off point was opposite that. You’re on the slopes within 5 minutes. All in all, a great week!

5 star! It’s brilliant and I like everything about it, I stayed here last year through SNO as well, and recommend this place all the time. For anyone who skis it’s the place to go. You couldn’t knock the staff one little bit, especially the manager and catering manager. Everything is very clean – some people say it’s getting a bit worn but it’s fine. The food they serve is really good, not stingy at all, and if you want anything in particular they just deal with it to accommodate you. When we first stayed here we were warned about it being away from the lift. However there’s a brilliant tow across the car park which makes it virtually ski in, ski out.

The chalet hotel is really nice. Actually quite a few people mentioned that it was so noisy in the dining hall that it got to the point where you could barely hear what anyone was saying… The food was really good with a decent amount of choice – by dessert I was always full! I thought the afternoon tea was really good, we had cakes, biscuits, salmon on crackers, sandwiches... There was probably too much of it as it didn’t all get eaten most days, which isn’t a complaint as such, but it would have been a shame if it was going to waste. On the night out, the hotel booked us into a restaurant somewhere quite high up in the town. It ended up snowing so what we did instead was book into a restaurant connected to the chalet hotel (possibly called Chalet Bouvier?) where some of the other guests were eating. The chef had previously worked in a Michelin starred restaurant and the food was amazing. It was also the easiest restaurant to get to by far, so I’m glad we ate here instead and would recommend that others do too! Our twin room was a good size, no problems with it at all. I liked having a gym and a pool – there were a few issues with the Jacuzzi not working which my dad was disappointed about but I prefer the sauna anyway! The location is probably the best you can get without being able to ski to the door and the local buses were really regular.

My room was perfect and the food was great, with nice variety (it was a little bit of a mix, some French things and a little bit of British). There was always more than enough and they’d bring you more from the kitchen if you asked for it.
