Overview: chalet description: Chalet Hotel Cocon des Neiges description

NB: This is a "family" chalet, so all bookings must include at least one child or teenager.

We have procured the best positioned hotel in Les Menuires, in the Bruyères quarter, at the foot of the slopes and with the gondola outside the front door.

At 1,850m altitude, this new property is high enough to guarantee season-long snow. What’s more, you are just one lift away from getting to Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe, with its glacier.

The chalet hotel is great for those regular guests who want to try something a bit different, with more families to socialise with than in your standard chalet and for new families, or those that have been to a Chalet Hotel before, this opens up a fantastic location that you may never have been to. Add in our two new dedicated in-house playrooms, one for babies and toddlers, and the second for older kids, as well as the hotel bar and lounge, this exciting new property suddenly appeals to families on all levels.

As well as the easy access skiing, there are exciting après-ski adventures for all the family to enjoy too, as within a minute’s walk are both the wonderful new ‘Aqualudique’ swimming-pool and wellness spa, and the ever-popular ‘Speed Mountain’ toboggan-on-rails adventure, for a 1 km ride of twists and turns.

There are five categories of Suites, ranging from the single-space Studio Suite to the multi-bedroom, multi-bathroom Premium Suite. All suites have a private hot-tub on the balcony, but Suites 10, 17 and 19 have a sauna at an additional supplement.

All of our chalets have their own dedicated playrooms.

Our professional carers are a mix of qualified nannies, teachers and nurses supported by experienced assistants. All are recruited by us in the UK.

Together with Saint Martin De Belleville and Val Thorens, Les Menuires (say it Lay-Men-Weer) is part of the Vallée des Belleville and is the cheapest base for skiing in the 3 Valleys. This purpose-built resort is more focussed on the practical than the aesthetic. Le Menuires is split into five villages - Preyerand, La Croisette, Les Fontanettes, Reberty and Les Bruyères, all linked by walking paths, ski runs, shuttle buses and lifts. Les Bruyères or Reberty have the sloping roofs and wood-cladding the Al...
The resort has aimed to provide a wide variety for all abilities – and the proof is in the pudding! The opportunities are outstanding for skiers and snowboarders, but you would expect no less considering it is a part of the world's largest ski area. Novices will find five free lifts either end of the resort for getting to grips on gentle little green runs and longer greens such as La Violette at the top of the gondola from La Croisette. With a healthy mix of reds and blue runs covering the vast majori...
End a day of skiing on the large sun terrace in L'Oisans and sit down in the sunshine with a jug of beer. Kick back with a cocktail or shoot some pool in the cosy Piano Bar Le Kube. Sports games can be watched on the TVs at Café Snack. If you ski over to Val Thorens be sure to go for some drinks at the famous Folie Douce. Those looking for some late-night action have 2 night clubs to choose between; Le New Pop in La Croisette or Le Liberty in Les Bruyères - an intimate underground bar with seats fashioned like...

"It was a fantastic family holiday and the staff were brilliant!"

Clifford
5/ out of 5
The location was great, but the highlight for me were the people running it – they were just brilliant! The team that were there would go out of their way to cater for the kids and all the little touches they did were just fantastic. They were all really happy and nice people, they were really good – couldn’t have asked for more. I thought the rooms were a little bit small, a bit tight. I would give the overall holiday a four and a half out of five. The half is just because the rooms are a little bit tight, it was a little bit tight getting suitcases in and out, and trying to store everything…could just do with being a wee bit bigger, but not much they can do about that I suppose. We’d all definitely go back! The food was absolutely brilliant. Really good quality, the staff were really attentive, flexible, it exceeded our expectations to be honest. It was really excellent! We had the ability to have teas and coffees all day, they had the little cakes put out in the afternoon and little things to drink before our meals. There were so many great little touches that just made the holiday so good for us. The location was perfect, just fantastic. It was spot on really. You’re right on the slopes, it was just wonderful, a great location! 4.5/5

It was great and the service was so good! The staff were amazing. We were a big group of 5 families with fussy kids and the staff were really good and accommodating. The young staff in the bar and the restaurant were great and fun when we had a bit to drink. There were only a few issues when we first got there (hot tub wasn’t working and a couple of light bulbs were broken), but they did fix it all. The beds were comfortable too. Overall we were all very happy, we would all definitely go back. The food was good, the booze was good and it was good value for the amount of food and wine we had included. We thought it was good value. We also loved the fact that we got some cake when we got back, then went out again. Then when we got back around 7pm before dinner there was some champagne (I think) and nibbles which was amazing. The location was amazing. It was on the slopes, right by the bubble lift and only a 5min walk to the ski school. It was also only about a 15-20min walk to the main town (we only went probably twice) and also watched the ski school do their lights show and everything. You could also just ski there.

"Can’t beat the location."

Can’t fault the food, was so great being with a family operator as you didn’t need to worry about whether the kids would like the food. Can’t beat the location, as ski in ski out as possible, was so useful for the children and even better for us.

We all had a fantastic time and the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were an extremely helpful bunch of youngsters and were just great. The families that had the smaller rooms found it a bit tight, but we were really there for the skiing - don't spend much time in it. Food was great, not so much for the kids. Although not entirely a fair comment - younger ones were fine with plain pasta etc. but older ones found it boring. We asked the staff and they were so helpful and actually gave us the adult menus which the kids could then choose from. The gondola is 10m away! It's right on the doorstep, it's the best ski in/ski out that I've seen. One of the kids came down one day and skied into the locker room! It got busy some days but that's just skiing for you. The snow was a bit rough for our week, but we had a good time. You can’t change the weather.
