Overview: chalet description: Chalet Hibou description

Chalet Hibou is just one of six ski chalets which make up a mini-village in the picturesque area of Peisey Vallandry, just below Les Arcs 1800. Set on a slope and very close to the lifts linking you to Les Arcs and across the valley to La Plagne, you can't beat the west-facing views and dreamy sunsets.

The chalet has been very well laid out with a pair of large ensuite bedrooms on each floor, particularly ideal for families taking two rooms as it affords a nice amount privacy. The Hibou and four of the other chalets are identical in size and layout, all sleeping between 11 and 15 people. If you want more room, Chalet Hermine is larger as it sleeps 15-18 guests.

Families will also love our full range of kids' clubs located on the ground floor of Chalet Hermine. Our experienced team of nannies will look after your little ones from the age of four months right up to 12 years old with plenty of fun both in the warm and out in the fresh mountain air.

Head to your home-from-home after a day's exploring in the massive 425km Paradiski area to an afternoon tea with freshly-made cake and biscuits. Kick back on the large sofas, warm up in front of the fire and swap stories. Or for a little more relaxation and rejuvenation, each chalet has its own sauna and outdoor hot tub to soak in the snowy valley views.

This is quite a unique chalet village as it's completely interlinked with a series of paths and steps. The top most chalet and the one closest to the lifts is Chalet Hermine. It's not only the largest out of the six chalets, but houses the ski lockers for all chalets and the entire ground floor is dedicated to a bar and our very own kids' clubs.

Don’t forget that you get free guiding and coaching throughout the week from fully qualified ski and board instructors.

Designed for confident blue and red-run skiers and snowboarders, they'll show you around the mountain on free guiding sessions, and even offer free coaching sessions to help you become a more confident skier or snowboarder.

There are at least three sessions a week and we guarantee each guest at least two sessions a week. Your hosts will explain how it works when you get there.

Families: Chalet Hibou for children

Our youngest guests will be well catered for with our childcare and crèches taking care of kids from four months to 12 years old. For skiing kids, we offer a ski school drop-off and pick-up service, ensuring they're happy and settled. There's also evening care available on three evenings a week.

Your chalet hosts will be able to cook up dedicated kids' meals with all the firm favourites to make sure they're well fed, and at a time that suits you. You can also borrow our snow buggies and sledges for when you want to head out and explore the resort by yourselves.

For our youngest guests, we have a 24 hour baby room and UK standard cots and highchairs, just let us know at the time of booking if you'd like a cot in your room.

We can even provide a private nanny service if you would prefer to have individual care for your little ones. Simply call us to discuss your needs.

We update Chalet Hibou's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. Les Arcs came to be in 1968 after a group of ski instructors and architects dreamt up a resort with all the perks of a village but a mountainside location. It grew into one of the largest, most incredible ski areas in the Alps. The closest airport is Chambery with a transfer time of a couple of hours, plus transport links from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble. Present-day Les Arcs consists of four main purpose built villages. The original resort, Arc 1600, was created for doorstep skiing and is linked by a funicular ...
As you'd expect from one of the biggest ski areas on the planet, there's everything from gorgeous tree-lined runs to wild, white-knuckle off-piste. For beginners, each of the 3 main Arcs has 'ski tranquille' zone, and the wide beginner runs leading to the resort have gentle gradients perfect for practising. Local instructors are on hand to show you the ropes, with ski schools based in each of the main villages (1800 has the most). There are magic carpet lifts at 1800 and 2000 - an easy way for newbies to get up ...
If you're looking for a party, Arc 1800 is the place to be. With heaps of watering holes like the Red Hot Saloon (or the 'Red Bar' to use local lingo), Benji's and La Folie Douce. If you're looking for more of a French-style après spot, Ambiente Cafe has a really cool atmosphere and lots of nice cocktails (happy hour usually starts at 4) while Le club 1950 your venue if you're looking to party into the wee hours. Arc 1600's a little quieter but for good music and a scenic terrace check out Les 2 Têtes. In te...
